Hi, I have the problem that, when I start the server it doesn't open and is loading for years and it also won't let me select the nfsw.exe. Hope somebody can help me
Got it by myself, I only updated Java haha
Ok so I upgraded to Windows 10 (geez, windows gets uglier everytime they release a new one) and experimented a bit with the Offline installation instructions. I tried to install Python in ProgramFilesX86 and all went fine. From there I ran an Administrator command prompt and installed mitmproxy also with no errors. So I click the servereditor and run the game. All went well, so I continued to tweak my new Win10 system and install other stuff I need on there.
I noticed the Win10 setup moved my prior windows to it's .old folder although I told it to fkn clean everything (what do you mean everything) EVERYTHING...
...but it kept some stuff in the root as well, like the old python map and fraps and some more. So I dump the old python map in the trash, and tested if nfsw would still run. It didn't. The obsolete python map was somehow still needed, because when I restored it, NFSW would run again without problems.
So the question is: what is making the c:\python27 folder so important to be in that spot? Unfortunately I didn't notice that old map was still there when I installed mitmproxy, so I don't know if that just dumped it's files into c:\python without me noticing. When I tried to delete c:\python with the game running it gave an error that files in there were in use. wtf? The PATH doesn't contain this map anymore, the new python setup set it to c:\programfilesx86 like I told it to do. Enlightment please, while I make another coffee to wake up properly and fuzzing around a bit in those maps.
edit: ok so when I run the servereditor and start the server it shows in the taskmanager that the python.exe and mitmproxy.exe from c:\python27 are used. Why? Is this stuff hardcoded into the server? Hardcoding foldermaps is a big no-no, lesson 1 from the programming study I took decades ago. That rule somehow vanished in time?

I already did it way before at version 1 with ServerEditor, but people that had cyrilic characters in there user/PC name couldn't play the game then. (Because MSIL doesn't like Unicode unless you tell it to like it). I guess I'll re-add it in the next version, this is how the settings.ini will look:
Code:
# NFS: World Executable Path
---
# Is Java Installed?
true
# Is Python Installed?
true
# Is MITMProxy Installed?
true
# Python Path
---
# Do not manually edit this file!

Cool, so then we can install python and it's **** into for example d:\games\need for speed world offline, together with the server and gamedata. Way more tidy

After a clean install of .NET you should run Windows Update to get all the **** updates for it. It's a lot and takes a lot of time as well. When will they start to learn at M$ to pack all updates and patches in the installer when you get it?

This is not a help place, there is a different thread for help. This is place for server discussion, making server better, adding stuff, etc.

Offline World in Server Einfügen??? 10/07/2012 - Minecraft - 4 Replies Hey Ho :)
