Not every server owner is kid or corrupted these days.
The problem with these files is that they're outdated. People played it because they were the only alternative to official servers and because those server had higher rates, plus the community wasn't scattered.

Exactly, people liked it because it was something new and bugless (less bugs than ecsro and zszc for sure ) euro chars were added and the community wasn't that bad. After Chern0byl* released the server files like 2 months later everybody was able to create a KRALL SERVERLAR with 2309482394 free SYLKZ, "BECAUSE PLAYER LIKE IT" -.- ... And now... 27.05.2013 tons of servers trying to get players So.. no there is no point of returning old servers because the old community is gone. Server admins might not be 13 old Ahmeds but most of the players are... Sorry for mistakes

As I was once a random user, back the files were too cool and WE all wanted them. Now, with a little more knowledge about this, I came up with conclusion(imo) that the server files release was and was not a mistake.
Was: the really ****** up the section.
Was not: it opened the door for those seeking knowledge not willing to be become rich by doing so

The problem are not the files being released, but the behavior of the Silkroad players. Many games had their serverfiles released and didn't happen what happened with SRO, and sadly Elitepvpers is contributing to this situation intentionally by promoting fail servers that close after few weeks (already opened a thread on the epvp section about this issue months ago, I'm still bumping it when I remember about it).

I keep thinking that for solve this issue there are 2 ways:

- Find a bug that make current vSRO files unplayable and that cannot be fixed.
- Elitepvpers stops promoting and rewarding the behavior of "opening servers with 0 knoweldge because I want to be GM/get money".

2nd way is more simple, but sadly admins of this community tend to ignore users suggestions (at least from SRO section). I know elitepvpers is not the only private sro server community, but its probably the biggest. With the proper measures this situation can change.

also, other games got the source code released, and god, not even that seems to go the way SRO went
and yes, Epvpers holds the title
s4a is big as well but only for the amount of that kind of users you already said
rz has as well but there, the mods are such an assholes and the community not such support oriented that the point of posting there just pffffff


I will keep on that thread pushing it as well, I'm gonna PM John Dread(or if he is reading this right now) about this. We need to have some Q/A on the servers for god sake

Honestly, I gave a huge Guide and Packages related to what I do at this moment there, if I would post it here either Way nobody would be interested or in the other Way Peoples would go nuts and the Topic would go into Oblivion.

Anyway, I'm still for a approval for each Thread in the Advertisement Section but Approving each Thread will be a pain in the a.. you know.

Maybe some kind of "Thread-Limit" that means you're only available to open a Thread there every half Year.

I doubt old Servers like MHTC/ECSRO/SJSRO or whatever would survive at this moment, no matter what, they're CHN Only based and most of such Servers won't last long since it's overcrowded with Bots/Goldbots. The other Fact is, Silkroad isn't Silkroad anymore once you remove a Race since Silkroad is based on the real Silkroad, it's like you blow up a whole Country and the other Countries can't Export/Import their Goods anymore.

they would surviive, simple as that
even if they managed to get a lot of money back then, that accomplishment is worthless right now

Tbh, the fail nowadays is just that simply. ****** kids editing a PERFECT server, like 80/90 cap with fail features like op items for silks coins etc. Bla bla bla.... The point is. There´s no serious Admin here to handle a server, based on cap80 ISRO!!!!! not based on ****** edits just to fail servers again and again. I want the old feeling. Sun D8, pwning lord with like 3 parties etc. Like the time of Baum ( Venice server ) 15X times a lord kill for him. THAT WAS FUN!!!! Now those server are just made by kids for kids with kid edits. I CANNOT own my server cause I´ve got no time for it...But I still want to come home, log in, having fun and done... Silkroad = Botroad & Editroad. Nothing more to say. You´ll never find a good server without ****** edits or fail admins/gm´s.
The old server hadn´t corrupted retards or fail edits somewhere in their games. Tho you could donate for sun items +9 or something but still, that´s only 1 fail edit nothing else...
