They edited the people-based avatars from the Asian test for the first few closed beta.

I'm not sure when the avatars changed. I had the impression that EA changed at least some of the driver avatars between the Asian beta and the March 5, 2010 beta.
The March 5, 2010 beta had some unique features. One was that Campus Interchange was a 7 lap event (8 if one more lap used). That was probably the longest NFSW event. There were a couple of Most Wanted knockout circuits that I don't think showed up again: Rosewood Drive, and Rosewood Hillcrest. March 5, 2010 beta had 34 tracks, but the later betas had fewer tracks.

They did change all of them.
From the Taiwan test, only a few got cut if I recall from running around the internet, and replaced with other driver images.
But for the ones that carried did carry over, the avatar's faces got a bit more... scruffier. (Not keeping the baby face)
Those that remained used until ~CB4, at the same time they replaced the closed beta safehouse with the current one.
If they still remained in the game files after that, I don't know.

Yeah, I heard some tracks got cut. Back then, I drove at the speed limit, so I didn't get to adventure around much. (before realizing the cops ignored speeders and only gave chase if you crashed into them)

The original safehouse and what was called the lake house could be seen by going out of bounds (initially using the bus stops similar to Carbon, later a few spots where resetting puts a car out of bounds). During version 4, the original safehouse and the lake house went through a few changes, but both were removed with version 5 on Nov 16, 2010. Pics of them can be seen here:

Yeah... I know about the lakeside safehouse. (go through my post history on this site, I mentioned it like 3 times)
Though, given the relative emptiness (ie, "broken lakeside safehouse") of some of the client builds.. I'm trying to get 1 that's as close to V5 as possible. (which would be the most complete and up to date version.)
Also, might need to edit some .moo scripts, but that's like way too far ahead for me at the moment.
That, and I'm doing different stuff at the same time.
(try designing my own part so I can make some nail heads for toy car axle replacements, yet be portable enough to carry around)

You'd probably want the Sep 28, 2010 release if it has the original garage with the clear window, and a good lake house.
The last release before version 5 was probably Oct 27, 2010, but that release slowed down the BMW by 5 mph: with skills, from 204 mph to 199 mph; without skills from 192 mph to 187 mph. EA effectively sold the old BMW and bought the new BMW in players inventories, causing the BMW to get new id's (as if the player bought one in Oct, 2010) and shuffled to the end of the list of cars, which showed up if a player had bought any cars after the BMW before EA "nerfed" the BMW. No one seemed to know if the Oct 27 release made any changes other than "nerfing" the BMW. It's also not clear how a release of the game could do a massive change to the player database to change the cars. It's possible that EA had shut down the game just before the Oct 27 release to change all the BMW's in players accounts, but I don't recall if there was a shut down or not.
I don't think EA never acknowledged when cars got nerfed in the release notes. EA never warned players about the need for speed skill bug in the release notes during the betas, despite the bug being confirmed during the Apr 30, 2010 release, and never fixed in the following 4 betas, only to get fixed with the Jul 20, 2010 head start release.
The Sep 28, 2010 released added the Evo X, which was the only tier 2 car to have a pro upgrade kit, that required level 45 to unlock. It was slower than the Elise with street upgrade kit, and with only 3 free slots and a max of 5 or 6 total slots (6 if you bought 3 slots before unlocking the second free slot), few players bought the EVO X or upgraded it with pro upgrade kit. It was only a rare car for a couple months, because version 5 changed to performance parts.
The out of bounds garages were the actual locations of the garages. If a player went out of bounds into the current garage, then pressed "H" to go to the in game garage, you would see the blue grid lines from the out of bounds located car while transitioning into the actual garage.
On a side note, in the case of NFS Carbon, no one ever found the Carbon garage from out of bounds, so it may have worked differently.

Nov 16, 2011 - cops removed from free roam, replaced by specific events. Lucky draw cards changed, 1 / 2 / 3 minutes = bronze / silver / gold. So short pursuits were longer useful.
Apr 11, 2012 - Free roam chat "temporarily" removed from game. (Just like the posts at the bus terminal were going to be "temporary").

P.S I'm glad that I had that Zonda F Roadster, so I can drive good car in last 5 days... I had ****** cars in game...

NFSNULL teleported players in one place, display images in html, invited all to the game as "NFSDEVELLIS" (developer) etc etc
ea could not do anything, they decided to turn off chat "public"
it is only a small part of what he did in the game, then I find the video with images in html ^^

December 2010 Beta. And SpeedyDanny, it's giving off a file called MemoryExhausted.xml when I try to run the server with your Beta files. Any ideas?

Bei mir kann ich need for Speed world online irgendwie wenn ich auf "Spiel Herunterlade" (needforspeed.com) klicke, steht da das hier:
