Either it was my tutor or the system or both that made me hate it. Complicated and very not user friendly interface helped it too.

I've used IIS 7 and have found it ridiculously easy to use. There are a ton of great guides on how to easily and properly set it up and secure it.
I try to stay up to speed on all options. If Apache works for you then good, if IIS works for you then good. If you are doing more php, Apache is probably the better choice, if you are doing a lot of .net, IIS is probably the better choice.
Personally, I think both options are great, I think there is enough material that will help with either choice. But, people need to research it so they know what suites them best.
Arguing about which one is better or more secure is really a waste of time. Anybody that has done any research into these things, know that this has been discussed and argued about for years.
However, I should add, I think .net is far superior to php.
Anyways, last time I will post about this. (apache and iis, I don't want to start a VS. war :P )
