How to setup the famous Shaiya server without problems

hello,
ok looks like im not one of the lucky guys...

i installed everything, but when i start all services, they start but go back into "Pause"
Session started 1 time, but now after a few reboots etc Session doesnt even start anymore ;(

i saw a lot of ppl having the same issue, hopefully someone wrote down how they fixed it,
im searching for it right now.

LoL you got same error as I got in the beginning.
The problem is that your database server does not have 127.0.0.1 as address.
when you create your SQL server instance DO NOT use your own name,
but use the default instance name. Then when your SQL server is up,
use SQL serve studio to login to your server, and the login address MUST BE 127.0.0.1
otherwise you will need change a lot of files in the shaiya server package to make this work. GL!

how do i change the adress from my database?
Instance Name is BLANK , is that right?
i can log in the SQL Server Studio with Shaiya:Shaiya123 but where do i have to change the "login adress"?

Well, sorry for not replying for so long,

I explained most of the things necessary, im afraid many people think too "difficult" by setting up things that are not needed, poly, thank you for your addition, but i made this tutorial because the one u posted didnt work out for me, and i read all the questions and discussions on that threat, and made sure i got most of the common problems sorted out in my tutorial.

For people with "stopping services" problems, this is SQL related.... I see loads of people use SQL SERVER EXPRESS 2005.... RTFM!!! i said SQL SERVER STANDARD!!!!!!! Express has default settings in some points wich you arent allow to adjust, because its free, also the things u have to do to DO make it work are too much, and way too complicated.

i would say uninstall everything of the server, and try again, with the programs i listen, also use some debug programs to see if u can access the database urself with the data that has been put in the shaiya batch. so same commands to see if u can do it manually, if u can do this, use the batch, if not, troubleshoot your connection and make sure ur sql access settings are correct.

i deleted my whole server, and i didnt want to give support for it, but i do because i see so many people go wrong on the same subjects.

This is not the only threat about this, try to troubleshoot your problems before asking here, see if you can find it in other post, im sure many people had your problems before.

im sorry i dont give big explainations, because i dont have a server nearby to give a step by step description....

sorry again for being away for so long, i have been busy with my real life ^^, and lil pro hacker, thank you for posting on my threat, i feel privilidged a great hacker like you even looks to my threat ^^.

hackers, put ur minds together, help eachother, im sure you all can work it out together! this community is about helping eachother, not just hitting and running . If everybody contributes, im sure we can do way more then some people think.

currently im busy on a new core for WoW, ill put it on a thread when im done, i cant give a detailed description about it, it will be 100% blizzlike, because im busy to find a way to copy the exact datastreams of the original servers, with constant connection, lets say a direct copy ...

look in other posts too for answers to your questions, its not only about setting it up, its also about being able to maintain it and finding problems, if u can do that, only then you are worthy of calling yourself a real hacker / troubleshooter..

i understand u both, i know its annoying to get the same questions over and over again.
im not a hacker, either a troubleshooter. Im just a random guy who trys to learn somethin new.

i tried it douzen of times now with sql serv 2008 standard (1.3gb) and with the sql serv 2005 standard (1.3gb)

i read all the pages in this and in the other thread, i tried everythin (i think :>)

i dunno exactly but i think the problem is arround this:
if i type 127.0.0.1 in my browser, i get a login window. shaiya:shaiya123 ; Shaiya:Shaiya123 ; admin:admin123

nothin works.
i created a new user for windows, with the user : pass shaiya:shaiya123 still no success

i enabled TCP/IP and named pipes, also i deactivated my firewall

ISS is installed.

i would really love to understand it, but i dont get it.

If i start Sql2008 i can login my server, server is called somethin like "127-Adnw3134"
pass: shaiya:Shaiya123 (case sensitive)

i tried to remove 127.0.0.1 from the *.ini files and pasted my server name instead of it.

still doesnt work.

I tried also to name my instance/server 127.0.0.1 but it auto names it to "127-Admwe243" somethin like that.


and to get to an end, there must be 1 major failure which a lot of ppl do, cause i read so many posts about ppl with the same "Services dont stay on play" issue.

once again, dont get me wrong, i want to learn, seriously, but if u keep gettin the same error over and over and over again... ;( i for myself am tryin now since 4 days

You will also need a D:\ drive, if you dont have one, look here: Dont ask about this in here...

Lets get started

First of all, install all the programs listen above, should not be hard, if you cant do this, give up... With the SQL installation, make sure u use Mixed Mode Authentication Win NT & SQL Authentication with as password "shaiya123". also make sure that in the configuration the connection is set to both tcpip and named pipes! When u activated these things, restart the SQL services to activate the changes.

Forward these ports on your router if u have one:

1433 - SQL (for remote connections like link server used by session)
30800 - ps_login.exe
30810 - ps_game.exe
30900 - ps_session.exe
30901 - ps_userLog.exe, ps_userLog.exe, ps_userLog.exe
30911 - ps_dbAgent.exe
30912 - ps_gameLog.exe
40900 - PSM_Agent.exe

Extract the server files with an archive unpacker, and copy the files to "D:\SHAIYA_SERVER\SERVER". Make sure u use this path, otherwise it wont work! (to check if u have the right path, look in D:\SHAIYA_SERVER\SERVER and see if u have the files in there, and not the folders u just extracted)

Run Install_Server.bat in the subfolder SHAIYA.
Press space at times when asked, no errors are allowed to show up!
If there are any errors, post some screenshots here, and ill take a look at it!

When its done and u have the server patch config, go to Server Setup and press Apply to Windows Registry. When this is done, close the screen, the prompt will tell you to reboot, press space.

After your computer has rebooted, go to your D drive, the shaiya server folder, then shaiya then PSM_Server and open PSM_ServiceMgr.exe in there (copy the shortcut to your desktop for easier maintanance) close it, and open it again. This should give you all green crosses. In the menu Server Setup press on Service Install All. Wait, this could take a while.

When it its done, it should show all services "paused". In the menu Control Service press on Start All Server Service. Wait again. if all services stay on "play" ur server should be running, if not, make sure all config files are right, in psm_client/bin/logs. When it all stays on "play" press right mouse button on Login01 and click on command. Insert the command /vchkoff and press enter. Close this screen now. now do the same with Game in gamegroups, but then with the command /nprotectoff. In here, u can also do /exp2xenable [x] where x is the number of the multiplier of the experience rate ingame.

Congratiolations! your server is up and running and ready for connections. Make sure you use the fully updated client from aeriagames, and patch it with an ep3 client, google the web!.

For people who want to make the game.exe too for the client, open the game in HxD (free download, just google) find ip 72.55.177.194, and replace it for your ip adress. Use local (192.168.X.X) for local connections only, and your WAN ip to play over the internet too.

If you want your server to be public, ONLY change the public ip in the server patch config!, press apply, and restart it.

Once again, if something doesnt work, post here, and ill try to help!

I cannot make a youtube video, i do not have the time, NOR the mood to do it, this should be easy to do.... If services wont stay on "play", it means u have a SQL RELATED PROBLEM. I worked with MySQL and SQL Server for a while now, and i saw that its too spread to cover all the problems that can come forward. Try troubleshooting connections with batch commands, tools, google, other threads, there are so much options, if you really want to learn, find a good book about SQL... I have setup a few servers past few weeks, for people that have sent me the question about it, i have given up this, because i only got 30% working, only because of former installations and configurations... Like i said before, there WONT need to be configured much, instead of playing around with configurations, ini's, programs TRY TO TROUBLESHOOT YOUR SQL CONNECTION!!! In worst case scenario, install a clean XP SP3, and try again, without configuring too much. BTW, keep the SQL named instance on the standard name....

I worked with shaiya servers for about 3 weeks, then i moved on, not intresting enough for me to maintain, my own server that is. it is not hard, i read a few tut's, i got ignored a few times, but still i did it because i kept on trying, and the way i setup my tut, with LESS explaination then others, will help you more, because i wont show fancy images, i wont explain fancy words and options, i tell you what the option is, how to configure it, and to leave it... This will avoid further problems, because there wont be a need to look back to all the configurations, as this should be DEFAULT!

Please people, try again if u persist in making a Shaiya Server, but read, execute, and dont add too much, this will cause problems...

Can I use MS SQL Server 2008 instead of the 2005 standard version, I have looked for the standard version for 2005 but I haven't found it.

if this is a express version of sql make sure that the sql browser is also runnign other wise that is the error you get once you turn the browser on it should connect no problem
