I have the server up & running fine, with the pxi configs saying my server & welcome message. But when in game, it displays both my server message & the DLX server message.. Is there anyway to change that or take it out since you can already set it in the configs file?
My guess is that it was coded as part of the .exe file.. So idk..

Yes, I was the one who hard coded that into the source code of the DLX-PXI binary release. Won't be removing it.. ever. Though people are free to download the SVN and build their own binary to change the server name that way. Purely optional.

Ok that's what I figured & that's cool. I was just wondering cause it was funny having two Welcome messages. Lol

I have the latest SVN from you guys, I'm not sure how to compile it though?
Is there a single file to load into Visual C++ like the WoW servers?

But, don't think that happened. We never made up a Visual C++ project file for people to easily load. We kinda figured if people didn't know what they were doing then they shouldn't be doing it. But! There is a tutorial buried in the private server files thread. I don't recall what page or who posted it. I really don't want to write up an updated tutorial.

Silly thing is that for how long the Source has been available I've never had 1 single person ask for permission to commit anything to it. Which is why I never bothered with adding a project file or tutorial. Always good to see a take/take community. And people wonder why DLX & DarkStar is closed source/binary.. heh

HaHa! Ya I originally had our own welcome message, then noticed DLX would show regardless, so I just made our message a following saying: "Now hosted under new Dev team. Thanks to DLX for their work!"
I definitely always prefer to credit those who deserve it, cause I prefer people doing the same for me as well. So no worries there!

Don't worry about writing another Tut, it's all good!
I understand the majority is a take/take community, so again, no worries.

I seriously just came across your guys project a couple days ago. Was kinda bummed you guys had already discontinued it after I came across it. Lol

We've been hosting our own server for a few years now, so when I was browsing through, you guys sounded pretty legit & I was just curious to see what kinds of things you guys actually accomplished in your work. Most people just move already made **** around & call it their own & rarely credit the rightful owners who actually did some REAL work on their server. So I just read into you guys a bit more & started browsing your work.

We had some things fixed that you guys didn't get around to, but you guys had some things perfected that we hadn't got around to. So we just started merging some of our files & I simply noticed the hardcoding in your .EXE file when loading your default. Just thought I'd ask to be sure.

I'm glad to hear you guys are now working on a whole new server from scratch!
It's about time someone in the FFXI private server community started working on a whole new setup for the server.
I definitely look forward to all the new hard work & accomplishments you guys turn out!

Yea, it's hard getting/keeping cred these days. I may set the next update to where the Login message stays how it is and allow people to change the world name to Titan, Phoenix, My Wittle World.. or whatever.

It's nice to see more people getting back and interested into FFXI p.servers. We've gotten a lot of new faces as of late. Hopefully in time a decent sized community will emerge. Been a while since I had a nice Dynamis/Sky run.

Agree that a lot of people move **** around, slap their name on it and send it out. We spent the most time moving most of that back and fixing the lingering bugs that people created over time. There was some good work in the source when we got it though. Bit of a bummer the PXI team wasn't able to finish it.

The new Dark Star server was by far the best thing to just fall in our lap. The devs are great and easy to work with and the server is coming along really well. Very happy and grateful to be on that team building this new server.

Might as well add this instead of a 2nd post.

Incomming update!
- Fixed 39 errors/warnings in the source.
- Reworked some math in mob attack/ability damage
- All characters automatically get all spells and key items when they log in.
(this was done to control it a bit better than the @ commands)
- Now runs on linux/wine.
(Getting it to run native linux isn't an option)
- NM's will Check/show up as ITG eventually. (not done yet)


This is currently running on a test phase so the more people that can get on it and run through it the sooner I can get this release out there. All the information on how to connect is on the Dark Star forums in the stress test threads.

Though we are not developing this server any longer I still like to do little things to improve the stability, functionality of the server.

3- wait, I thought only the binaries in the SVN was updated and such never bothered getting the source to try to work on it (don't want to duplicate you guys' job again).

1: It's working pretty well so far, had a few hic-ups at the beginning but worked them out. Still needs a ton of testing before I go and post a how-to.
2: You can't build it, I build it and release the binary.
3: The SVN is the original 6.5 source that we started with for the DLX server. The actual DLX source is closed.

Ya I would love to have a nicely run Dynamis & Sky! That would be Awesome!

So you guys aren't working on the DLX server as a Team anymore, but you still throw in a bit of work on it yourself from time to time?

I would like to be able to keep our own World server name to differentiate between ours & the DLX server, but I definitely don't mind keeping something with the DLX team in there at all. You guys deserve that credit!

It'd be great for more people to get into the FFXI private server community as well, just preferably not too overcrowded like the WoW servers have become. Although WoW is much more stable & functional than FFXI no doubt, it's nice to keep things a bit more "Underground" Lol

this version 0.6.5 is way to unstable. At first i thought it was my PC untill I found the source to version 0.6.4 and that version never crashes.

I event compiled the svn but it acts the same.
