I take it you didn't realize that elitepvp is a public forum and everyone has access to it and that it doesn't grant you any copyrights before you decided to release your stuff.

I don't think that's the issue here, but more because they distributed something that is very valuable without giving a thank or even asking if they're allowed to redistribute it.

People need to stop the "This is the internet, this is free" manners and grow up. There is no difference whether you take something on the internet and share it with others than from real life.

How would you feel if you had designed a unique car and you released the design in a press conference, 2 mins after another car designing corporation mad exactly the same design, because they stole yours? No wait, this is real life everything is free... lolwut.

Where is the logic in this world?

The point I was trying to make and what I should of wrote was "on the internet you should expect things to be reshared with 0 credit to your self. That is the way of the internet. It's because most people don't give 2 shits about who owns what. That's why piracy is a big thing.

If it was me posting that up I wouldn't have cared if it popped up everywhere else. Because there is nothing you can do to stop it short of keeping it behind closed doors. You can't really claim copyright on this code because TQ owns it. Yes you may have wrote it but TQ own that file format and the procedures to read that format. Not to mention no one here would be stupid enough to file lawsuit over this stuff.

Also as for the car example. There are rules and regulations put in place to stop that sort of thing. Copyright, patents, and so on.

Anyway not like any of this matters really. The information for the C3 stuff is still available here

Also TQ doesn't own a **** of it. They only made the file format, they do not own it. It's not like you can own a file format *****. You can own the file content, but not the format since a file format is nothing, but a specific structure. If that was the case then the person who invented the mp3 format owns literally 99% of all songs in the world.

That's Ulti's code. He does own a copyright on it.

You can't own the file format which is just a binary structure. The only thing you can own, is an algorithm used inside a file format (crypto, compression) like the .gif format, .rar, etc.

Anybody can make a parser for C3 files and sell it. He will own the app and all the code.

You can own a format. It's up to you whether you charge for it's use or not.
Owning a format does not mean you own the content.
