I'll take them both, however i already told Emme that he would be limited to what he is allowed to work with (simply because i want the core, or any CPU intense part of the server to be written quite well) not saying hes a bad coder, just not as experienced as some of us by the code I've seen, and what other people say.

There is a lot people can do, even if they can't code, ill make scripting NPCs so easy that a caveman can do it. (and if a couple of people can work on NPCs and replicating them just like the CO ones, progress will come along quickly)

If anyone has a bunch of packet structures for 5095 that CoEmuv2 does not have, they can also contribute.

Now that i think about it, the content CoEmuv2 is missing is not that hard/time consuming, there is also a huge amount of this server i would like to rewrite.

Reply here if your interested in helping out in anyway, no matter what experience you have there will be something you will be able to do (as long as your dedicated)

Can't you check Korvacs' wiki for the missing packets?

i doubt he would have every one i need for that version, but when i'm at that point i will check it.

edit: sleep time, 62 replies in about 12 hours not bad.

you can get just about every packet needed for 5095 from edited coemu versions... although many of the structures behind them you will wanna re-work (so use them as reference, nothing more)

Anime and sword co are nearly 'complete' when it comes to features so you can strip the packets out of them quite easily.

As I said I do have some of my own work to do but I'd definitely be interested in coding some features and helping out some. I prefer to stay away from the core systems because as you said... I can kinda decipher them but I'm not at the level where I feel comfortable completely re-writing them or anything along those lines.

I have every packet required to get a private server working for version 5100, and the packets dont change from 5095 - 5100 if i remember correctly.

If a packet doesnt have a structure besides for your version then try the version previous to that, so if theres no 5100 but theres a 5017 then try that one, the way its structured atm is im only putting up different structures if they atually change from version to version.

Its not that which source to use. If you that good just make one from scratch. Emme you have some good points. My personal opinion is "Why reinvent the wheel when you can just improve on it already". I'm not afraid to say that to this day i use a modified version of Hybrid's socket system released with with his bugles source. I am not great at sockets. Tho I rewrote base its self I still use his socket network. There is no one that is prefect at doing everything , it takes a combination of skills to do it all.(*Unless you Hybrid I think he could do it all ******). But that is what i thought this public project was going to be about? The community making a source the way they want it?

Yes. 5101 is virtually identical to 5095. Fairly sure you just change the encryption key and update possibly a few packet offsets... 5165 will require alot more upgrading though and going past that will require alot of updates and the addition of new packets for the new features such as arena.

I do remember seeing the cofuture source I think, and it was 5101, but based off lotf.

Yah there was also a coemu version running 5101 and if I remember correctly it's identical to the older versions except for the encryption key.

last night i was working with my other server Jonquer for an hour, and managed to do some great progress (wrote the base to all types of skills) and now adding each skill would take less than a minute. It really is a great server, and i'm not going to let it go to waste. It's almost at the content of CoEmuv2 in my opinion, so i think i'm going to stick working with that. However i also want to continue this community project, i know people around here don't have too much experience with Java, but there still is a lot they could do.

Since it's open source and i still plan on making it a fast stable server with the most content and releasing it, it suits this thread nicely.

@ImFlamedCOD: your right, it would be much better to continue on the one i made from scratch, progress would be faster since i know the entire way around it and the core (threading/socketing) is already stable, it just lacks content and has some bugs, nothing i cant fix.

So the COCP project is dead (within 24 hours =X) and you started with Jonquer again.

So, Chingchong, if you're really serious and dedicated about this project, and looking for a second coder, I might be intrested in joining in, got a lot of experience on my back and could contribute with a whole lot. Give me a PM if you feel intrested!

Gl to this project!
Actually i think PeTe could do a better job. All those good releases he made before in time. They are really good and he knows how to fix the errors in the projects. So i think he can do it better, but thats my decision.

Can a Community Project work out ?
08/03/2009 - Rappelz - 25 Replies
I am just thinking about the possibility to setup a community project to develop a Bot for Rappelz. But I don’t want to upload already compiled full working exe files for this. Instead I just want to publish the source code and everybody has to compile the final version on his own! My main motivation is to inspire the people to learn a programming languages. :D Can this work ? Are here some people that want to help with this task ?
