Thanks, but I'm already involved in that. My school isn't very big, so we don't have much space. I got enough space now for Kibou. It's uploading. I also have a home server ... so I could set up an automatic backup to it, too.

I was wondering about the size as well, I have been reading through different sources and such, therefore I have some stored, and it doesn't get to such a size...

Well, the Conquer Client makes up 2 GBs. My flat-file database is 200MBs (because of my compressed maps); tools, 50 MBs; research, 5.8 GBs; photoshop files and pictures, 25 MBs; resources, 436 MBs; and the project takes up the rest.

Kinda surprised you can't afford a dropbox account its only $9.99 for 100GB thats less than 1 night out/take away lol, could you not just fold it into your grant money you get o.O, in any case you should probably see about rearranging your expenses so that you can get an account its definitely worth doing.

And like i suggested the Team Foundation Server account would be worth looking at for a version management system, you can have upto 5 members for free nowdays.

Sorry, but if people want me to have a professional dropbox account, they'll have to buy one for me. I thought you all knew this already: it's a miracle I stay afloat every month. My college is the one paying most of my expenses right now and paying for me to go (so I can buy food and gas money). Besides, I'm fine at the moment on my dropbox. I've only used 85.9% of my 18.2 GBs. There's no need to waste money on something I won't use.

4GB storage limit on their cloud, and my home sever runs Windows Server 2003. I could make the service run in a virtual machine, but I don't know how safe that is. I was just going to do that for hosting the project (because if the virtual machine crashes or gets corrupted, oh well). The cloud wouldn't be able to support my project and my server wouldn't be able to run TFS 2012 without being in a vm. It's a nice idea though. Right now, I have it so my entire laptop is backed up daily to that home server. It doesn't take long at all (since it backs up what changes and keeps a history / versions of each file). I'm pretty happy with what I set up for now. I don't know if I really need something like this yet.

Actually the TFS which is cloud based has no size limit currently so you can store however much you like.

It doesn't articulate it directly, but it does have limitations.

I'm not sure if that means that it's a set limit, but it looks like it. I doubt Microsoft would give unlimited space when their skydrive is limited to 7GB. They could though. *shrugs* I'm fine with Dropbox and my home server atm.

No there is no hard limit, i have tested files up to 100 GB and it works fine. Above 150 GB i start getting windows filesystem errors.

What your describing is a limit to the amount of physical code you can store, your issue isnt the amount of code you can store, its the amount of resources you can store alongside it.

I have more time today, so I'm probably going to try doing more with recovery. You'll have to be patent with me. Finals are consuming my life atm. *phew* Hey everyone!

It's been a while since we had some real development on this thread, hasn't it? I'm finally back in the game, but this time... I'm doing something a little different than I usually do. You see, I'm not a web developer, I'm a software engineer. I know basic html and css, but that's it... or, that was it. After making a judgement call, I decided that Kibou is going to have a web server (that runs on the same host as the account server), programmed in ASP.NET. I chose ASP.NET because I'm (now) familiar with it, I believe that C# is better at managing high requests than PHP is, and it allows me to use my core and security infrastructures from the project (to authenticate user data). Anyways, we'll come back to that later. I just wanted to get it started so I had a base website to work on from time to time. I finished my website base yesterday.

As of today, offline messaging works. Special thanks to Angelius for helping me an offset (my packet logger went out and I can't log packets until I figure out what the problem is). You can now send messages to your friends while they're offline. Here are some pictures:
