Questions related to PServers!

After couple of months since I closed my server and checking up this forum and seen what people are facing I guess many of the players don't understand the meaning of a Private Server and got some questions about it.

What is a PServer? Well a Private Server it's a server without a licence more like a black business where some people which gather some information from forums, guides and friends or even paying other to build it for them in order to make some money.
Can anyone have a PServer? Yes anyone can have just follow some guides and invest a small amount of money in the first 2 months then you will get some benefits.
Why are they doing this? Well... some are doing it for friends, for they're own use and 80% for money.
How can you open your own "small business"? It's simple, gather 300-400$, buy a dedicated server, buy a medium protection for start, search on forums for the latest exploits fixes, make sure that you got a good DEV (Developer) to open it for you as it should be (without major bugs or other problems). Open some nice advertising threads of forums to attract people, be explicit and explain all the systems which you have on your server.
Key of success? Well...if you are planing to keep it up for a long time then you and your team should get involved and should be fair and to avoid any kind of corruption coming from you or from your staff members which means find yourself some good staff members. Another thing which you need to do about your server is to make it without major changes or with complicated boring systems. Choose a good CAP, set a poll or something after that get some testers (10-20) test it, work on it until it's 95% bug less. Another important thing about it is the server economy and activity so think wisely about it in order to keep it active and to keep the people on your server.
Can my server be attacked by others? Yes can be attacked by other people because many are hating and most of the owners are competitive, it's like a gamble, just make sure that you will pay for a good protection, good fixes (Exploits) and the most important thing is to make your community feel like it's something different from other servers, also make sure that you are patient and fair with all players and threat all the players equal even if hes a friend or a level 1 "noob" after doing that your community will support you and will be there for you on your hard times. Ohh yea don't forget to keep your hands home (Don't advertise your server in other servers or to send your community doing it, it's not nice and attract many problems)
Why do the community is so harsh? Most of the people don't understand what are the problems of a server, most of the time they just wanna play to be the best, but you must be calm and patient with them, explain them all what is wrong and make them understand the meaning of the problem. Another thing which is causing this is that many are kids (Under 16) or many even if they are over 20 they are acting like kids which you must be careful some are just trying to provoke you and some are just hating.
How can I try to make my server not fail? (Chance 60%)Hmm...this is not about you as owner, here 80% of the server are made by the community itself which make it a long term server or a short one and you must be careful and to be prepared for any kind of actions came from anyone. Be careful on the support, make sure that you are online at least 1 time in 2 days just to make them feel important and being seen, also be careful with your staff members to follow the orders to pay attention on players request and to be available for each problem which they face on the server.
Why servers are failing?Most of the servers are failing or a closed for many reason. Most important cause is the community because without them there is no servers which means that if you got a boring server they leave and your server goes puff. Other reason is the funds ($) without them you got nothing only if you can afford to pay it from your own money. Another reason is the behavior of the owner or the staff members which leads to failure...some of the staff are trying to be to bossy and some of them are corrupted. Like the other reason another one is the security, protection and the gameplay, if you any got these things well made than your a "made man".
What are the most played CAP's?

1. Cap 100 - CHN / EU
2. Cap 100 - CHN
3. Cap 90 - CHN / EU
4. Cap 110 - CHN / EU
5. Cap 80 - CHN
6. Cap 80 - CHN / EU

What should I do to make my community happy? The most important thing is to make the server equal for all, to make the donation silk be available for regular non-donor players (Via EVENTS, Vote4Silk or Silk / Hours), another thing is to make the gameplay balanced for each type of players which includes JOBBING / Leveling / Events / PvP / Other activities. Also make sure that you provide them a fast support and respect, be sure that you are online in order to see they're problems and to discuss future updates.

Without mentioning any names because it's against the section rules but there are 3 servers who have licenses so not all of them are 'black business'

Community is so harsh indeed which is why you should avoid direct GM-Player contact. You need like a forum or a ticket system on your website to avoid any rumors from being spread and even while hosting events, I personally don't think the players should know which GM is hosting it.

About servers failing, it's not funds $. Some servers make quite a big amount of money but merchandise servers such as payment wall and super rewards take a lot of time to be sent to the owner's paypal account or whatsoever and then what happens is, the owner tries to delay his invoices and maybe it can work out for the first month but for the second month I doubt people will be that 'friendly' and let you delay invoices.

So basically on the server's first month, it has to make enough money for the next 2 months and then it wouldn't matter if it makes money for 1 month per month. Otherwise, it needs a miracle.

About making people happy, silk per hour is a very abuse-able method to give people silks. You need something like a PC Limit of 1 to implement that so it gets even. Vote4Silk & Events are alright.

Another factor that can mess up the server would be online GMs during fortress war so I think you should be adding that to your thread.

One more factor is religion talks. Let's say an owner of a server is by any chance a Muslim and that guy has 'freedom of speech' in his server so somebody comes in and talks about religions apart from Islam which will the owner in trouble with '****** off Arabs' and they will just rage quit because they will be like 'y no protect islam bro? u from izreal??'

There are no servers with licenses, where did you get that info from? cO not even extreme Sro with Sro-R files do have a license.

I doubt that there is someone who got a 10k $ license but...who knows

Yes they do quite a big amount of money and spend it on his new motor or his new xbox...instead of paying the bills.

If you know how to manage your community and your server you can make money for at least 1 year.

I doubt that Joymax and partially WeMade do sell region or country specific licenses to the private server hosters. rSRO closed, vSRO downed, cSRO closed due to insufficient renewing contacts sides of Joymax, and and the current situation is that Joymax isn't making any money, like 8 years ago.

And it is clearly sure, that Joymax won't ever hand out the sourcecode of their game. Only patching the modules and client. Easy to figure it out - the SMC has an option to update every single module on the root.

And I heavily doubt that people may spent ten-thousands of dollars for a license, where Joymax will also get a cut of the income that the server is causing every year.

It's not about Joymax, you can legalize a private server without having joymax involved if you live in certain areas and know what to do.

Private servers cannot be legalized, you can "protect" your private server but you cannot legalize it over content that has been created by someone else, what kind of bullshit is that.

So lets go and steal all work, host it and legalize it. I can't believe what I'm reading here.

People honestly don't know anything about pirated software, illegit copy of software, products, contents, mental and physical creations, etc.

Every single file on the "market" is ILLEGAL! There is no chance legalizing a content which hasn't be created from the scratch. You are using someone else's private tools.

It isn't like that, that you steal a car and saying "hey look, I just took it and its mine! I legalized it without doing the necessary paperwork with the car company, the actual owner, the actual user and whoever is involved to it! It is mine!", got so far?

You guys clearly don't understand how to bullshit your way out of things, in a country where gaming or silkroad itself aren't so popular you can just lie and get a license easily then what? Joymax won't even give a **** to sue you because they don't even sue unlicensed servers, imagine suing a licensed one. It would take longer time.
