obviously not the best but they are there own ISP so its free for them for being a business.

Can you explain to me how this works? I'm currently using verizon dsl, would buying the zoom modem work for me? Would I be able to cancel my dsl services and just use this modem for internet? or do I need an internet provider? or is this only for cable service providers?

It will only work if you have a cable line in your house. This might sound really country but you can climb up on the pole and do it yourself =D
