programming languages are, for all intents and purposes, tools. A means to an end. A decent carpenter can hammer in a nail with a broken hammer, it aint the tools it's the bloke who uses them :P
Choose whatever languages suit your needs, if it contains what you want to achieve it's fine. Some people will claim certain languages are "better" but really what they're saying is that they are "better" because they use said language. It's a programmer ego streak, regular guys do it with their cars, we do it with our code.
Whatever language, a **** programmer is a **** programmer and there's no getting around that one.
+1
Helps though if the tool helps the guy using it to become a more solid coder by discouraging poor coding habits.
Im on a personal java hating trip for some time now. Simply caused by the fact I only hear "Java is perfect and great" coming out of the java camp while I acctually always were liberal like the rest of the coder community around. I can write my code in several different languages, including java, and i dont have a problem with it. However, Im having a clear problem with overpraising a certain programming language like its commonly done with java.
Bro, anyone that isn't a complete and utter moron knows that Java isn't perfect. Neither is C#. Or C, C++, Modula2, Pascal, Oberon, Lisp, Fortran of even assemblers.
Thing is there is no perfect language that does everything. I wish there was - would have mude my life over the past 35 years so much easier. programming languages are tools and jsut like a carpenter's toolbox, each is best at certain things. They are all tools. You don't use a tack hammer to drive 6" nails when a claw hammer does a faster job of it. However if you are very familiar with the use of the claw hammer, you can use it to drive in tacks if you use a lot of care.
Likewise you don't write a Windows desktop application in C when there are other tools like C# that can make a far neater and fancier job of it. While you can use C to write desktop apps a lot of care and work is needed to do so. It makes far more sense to use a tool that is better suited to it.
I think the moral of the story is this: you decide exactly what your project entails and what you want it to do THEN you cheese whichever language can accomplish that best and most efficiently.
Lots of programmers just use whatever language they love and praise to code everything, even if it's wasteful or inefficient.
I'm rusty on C and C++, very rusty, it's been years since I coded in those languages, however if I was making a project that would benefit from either of those I would definitely re-study and brush up on them. Dynamic memory management is a subject I'm also really rusty on, so that's something I really need to knuckle down on when I get the time.
I can't believe people can be so pie-ist at times!
But yeah as I said above I'm pushing forward with a view to this being a live server in the not too distant future hopefully. At the moment I'm currently trying to find the right ratios of stats on gear and accessories when it comes to attack power, defense and health etc, then I have to go through every single class and build to fine tune all buffs and skills to balance everything out as much as I can.
It's not really as difficult as it sounds because with + stats only it makes balancing much easier to do on a large scale. The only drawback is it just takes time to go through everything.
I'm sure I've mentioned all of that above though but if anyone has any questions feel free to ask, apart from when the server will be ready of course!
and here i thought you were the cake guy and you would have cake bosses. i would say a black forest boss defended by a few cupcake minibosses. watch out for the ones with candles. theyre the magic ones
meself i like my banana cream pies and would outfit my pie bosses with bananas.
so along with stats you going to do attack boosts for magic ranged and melee? what about accessories with multiple stats? will you limit those to maybe 2-3 stats? will there be stat boosters +%agi +%dex
i know the dhan players would love those since they get short-changed with +%attack. agi dhan players get somad when their gear isn't covered at all when you do +attack bonuses
sorry if im dropping all these qs on you while you are still in the concept stage but maybe you can use those as factors in your designs.
New Bypass Idea *IDEA NOT A HACK* 01/19/2009 - Soldier Front - 5 Replies Think about it..xfire to bypass GameGuard.
I dunno about anyone else or why it hasn't been mentioned ..or maybe it has.
But let me give you an example of what i mean.
You would Inject your "wallhack.dll" into the xfire.exe process.
Then Login to xFire. Then login to SF and let your Xfire ingame Load up.
Since xfire layers its chat windows over the SF screen freely without causing the ALT+TAB error
that means its has some kind of control over the D3D.
Idea:Possibly good potential idea! 10/26/2005 - Conquer Online 2 - 3 Replies Well today I was thinking and it was stated that it's impossible to view if you have a +1 item unless you look in your inventory, but it is generated before its picked up.
This could be a big job, could be worth it if it was possible and done correctly though. Turn the items on the floors into items in your inventory images, I should probably explain a bit more. The images that are used in your inventory, put those on the floor. That way if you moused over the image it'd show the +1...
