Maybe it is an express issue, try using MSSQL evaluation edition.

You do not need to burn the installer to a disk.

Use magic disk and mount the downloaded ISO then install it from the virtual disk mount.

Just from my perspective...I don't buy the GM thing.

I had never used SQL before I came to these forums for my own project and it makes me look like a developer.

Do not restore a database that does not exist yet with the "Tail_log back up before restore" option

Make sure you use the "Overwrite existing database with replace" option

On the left you see where it says options (in his picture)

When you start a restore after selecting the .bak file, click on that options link

On the options page the top box will say "Overwrite existing database with replace" make sure you tick that box.

Around the middle of the page you will see another box for "Take a tail_log back up before restore"

Make sure that box is not checked.
