I would start with making sure your SQL services are running.

As long as you did go through the configuration steps in the guide for configuring port 1433 and the TCP/IP connections.

Using the same SQL configuration manager that you would have used when you did those configuration steps, check your services and make sure they are running. Right click and select start service for those that are not.

Well it is not in msconfig so maybe your right click is not so fail after all.

It is in the SQL configuration manager.

I have not been able to connect with the "sa" login.
but with my windows session.
I have everything set.
I configure "Princess"
But I have error messages.
probably due to the configuration.

I am logged in as "sa"!!! why ???
any ideas.

1. Launch SQL Server Managment Studio.
2. Under Connect to Server window, expand the 'Server name' combobox.
3. Select <Browse for more>.
4. Expand the Database engines tree, then select the server named under your PC name.
5. Connect to it, then verify that the user 'sa' under security -> users tree is enabled by finding the icon without an arrow down icon.
6. Under the database's properties, add the user 'sa' as an owner then click ok.

This should solve all user related error messages. (couldn't have made it better).

I've tried 5 times and followed the guide accurately ( expect getting the Auth_GamePorta.bak file from older epic of rappelz, because the given links doesn't work for it but from epic 7.3 files as some1 told me it won't effect because the Auth doesn't change by the time )
so each time I run "CaptainHerlockServer.exe" it gives me the following error:



I have windows 8.1-64 bit if that matters
so any1 knows how to solve this please tell me, or I can skype + Teaviewer if needed :/

everything is configured properly.
My only problem is the "AuthServer.opt" file and "gameserver" files.
I have a problem: mk5 / pass / password ....a small problem for you.
a big problem for me.Files8.1_By_AL7roB compared to files.
an example of the file "AuthServer.opt" file and "gameserver" files would be welcome.

Is it possible? last line right.

@ayman ayoub It is trying to log in as rappelz_game so you have not set your users as "sa" in the opt files like it explains to do in the guide.

Try using the example opt files and just modify them to your own addresses.

@wesler013 There are example opt files in the guide. For the MD5 password use an online MD5 utility find the key in the opt files your password will be the key + password MD5 encrypted.

Example key is 2011 and password desired is password.

Enter 2011password in the online MD5 hasher and get the result.

The results go in the database for the account password.

You know...setting up a server is not for everybody, maybe it is not for you.

The MD5 password and key and using MD5 is for accounts only.

It has nothing to do with the user account "sa" and the password for the user "sa" which is DES encrypted not MD5

It really does not sound like either of you have gotten to setting up an account yet for logging into the game so forget about MD5 for a minute.

In the example .opt 2011 should be the key not your long encrypted mistake there.

In the example .opt user should be "sa" for the auth_db and the password should be left blank until we can get you to understand the difference between a game account MD5 and the database account DES, and I am not sure if we will ever get there.

Example from gameserver.opt

S db.c.name:Arcadia
S db.c.server:127.0.0.1
S db.c.account:sa
S db.c._password:

Now in order for this to work correctly "sa" needs to be set as the owner for all of the databases.
