Keeping unwanted people out. Obviously no silver bullet to security but increases it a lot.
Limits sales and therefore the amount of slots/users.

Negate the access to some specific persons. While it is not a wonder weapon to have those ID verification, its still useful. Like a first layer of defense.

As long as you stick with the right Provider that handles your data carefully and use the allowed privacy like blurring and watermark, you should be fine.
