I suggest don't add German version if you don't speak German.

Hi A!den,
Thanks for your response. In order to judge a user properly, I feel that the non English speaking members of the forum should at least have a German translated application to read if they aren't able to speak/read basic English. It's the same as when I read another users application, if they've only got one wall of text in German, I feel that I'm not able to come to a conclusion on an answer due to not being able to read any information which could be valuable in the future.
Kind Regards,
WF

Hi NarutoNL,
I could easily give up, but really, there's no point. Giving up shows nothing but the fact that the candidate was unmotivated and not determined throughout his application. The waiting date doesn't really bother me, I'm able to do something I enjoy without running the risk of actually worrying whether I'll be accepted or not. It's taken me a while now (3 years, in fact) to build up to where I am now, and I don't think I should give up just because I've had to wait a year and X months. (It's not been two years just yet ). But yeah, there's not really much to say more than that. At the end of the day, I can't control what's going to happen, all I can do is continue what I'm doing and hope for the best, and that's what I'm going to do.
Kind Regards
WF

You're seriously wrong if you think that. So what if he waits 2 years? I saw many people who posted their moderator application like on 2009 and got accepted 2013. The waiting date shouldn't be bothered, If it's much time, it shows that the candidate won't give up no matter what. WF has patience, he can even wait for 1 more year. That's how he is.

Having been a moderator in the Silkroad section quite a few years ago I can say there is no real reason to justify keeping him waiting a year. It has from what I an see 1 moderator. Back in the day this section had around 5 and that wasn't enough. This section is probably one of the worst for spam. Having been a moderator there I wouldn't do it again - feels like you're the captain of a sinking ship and constantly having to throw water out to keep it afloat.

Because at your time private servers were uprising, the Main SRO was very popular and don't forget about the foreign servers, which attracted alot of people. Only the skilled people owned a server back then.
Nowadays even kids can set up a server and create a thread for it.
Only the pSRO advertising section is getting active more and more.
Last year we had to recruit a 3rd mod to catch up the reports.
Now Portal is alone, I really wonder how he can manage this.
I mean, we moderators are not here 24/7 and want to have a real life too. It's not meant to be a hard and stressful work.

Hi,
Sorry, I haven't had much time to write a response to this. But I've just finished my projects. I agree with you. The discussion section is slowly dying. It went from 30-40 replies per day to around 15 maximum. The only problem is the Advertisement section. I don't know the actual statistics, but since I view it pretty often, I can see that it has at least 100-150 posts per 6 hours. Threads per hour is something I don't know, but I can guess around 10. The reason for this is because of the Ask the Experts section, it allows users who don't have the slightest knowledge of database editing whatsoever to open their own server. Now, this is where it gets tricky. Now that developers are less knowledgeable, this now means that the server that said developer is constantly being closed, exploited, and whatnot. Now, here's where the spam is introduced. Users then begin to flame the server thread, insults, racism, you name it.
Kind Regards
Wf

Well you can even look in the advertising section now - it has been spammed all morning. Say PortalDark or any 1 moderator is offline - it is not getting dealt with quickly enough. The point of having multiple moderators is to cover different time zones and share the load (as it isn't a full-time or paid job they shouldn't be expected to sink loads of hours in just for internet points).
However with the Silkroad section as a moderator you learn there is a certain different tolerance there (otherwise 60% of the posts would be deleted for being just a few words and a good majority would be getting infractions / bans). The other issue being: a lot of the users who post here do not speak good English and have a different post quality control.
There isn't a lack of applications for this section either - quality of applications I would be sure on though.
Issue is maybe some of the administrators not knowing what that the Silkroad section is like and assuming one is enough. John Dread having started moderating there should know as an admin if he reads this (or has).
I would also guess cause it's been ignored for so long - it best stay ignored otherwise it looks pretty lazy approving so late. This isn't a job for the position of CEO or some company board. It should be a quick process. There is no known reason to why this should be left for so long, a majority of people would of been disheartened by now to even bother keep trying.. as I said it's a free job and they've put in a lot of effort applying to just be ignored.
WhiteFox seems pretty willing to do the job and put in the time - so the answer is simple.

Hi,
Just woken up, I apologize for any mistakes. But yes, I do agree with you. I've waited roughly around 1 year and 5 months (?) now, but It's really not a problem for me lol. Again, I do agree with you when you say 'It should be a quick process' but if you just blindly accept someone in 1-2 weeks without properly reviewing them, how would you know whether they're determined or not?
Kind Regards
WF

When I mean by 'quick progress' is: I don't necessarily mean any user - but an administrator asking maybe a moderator of that section e.g. PortalDark what your like through a PM and looking at the stats on the left of your application speaks a thousand words. It shows you how active you are / contribution to forums already and not some 'unknown'.

I think in becoming a moderator, the stats or how many 'posts, thanks' etc is irrelevant. The most important trait of a moderator is being able to abide by the rules of the forum, and most importantly, make sure other users do the same.
EDIT: I can also admit I've had a pretty shallow past here when I first joined back in 2008-2010. But in my opinion, the change in maturity and the attitude towards the forum since then should be enough to be able to block that past out.

Hoi Leute!
