Question - problem with saving changed settings in game...

Like in the title And yeah I am asking if anyone have any ideas how to sort it out...

Problem:
Player change in settings font or auto/manual adjust for pets .. etc ... closing game ... getting back and nothing saved...

Anyone has this working even? Solution ?

Stored server side last i checked, however in some versions it is not handled.

what do you mean hio exactly ??

As I noticed settings that I talk about should be saved under:
ini/GameSetUp.ini
and
log/*** (certain char in certain char)

I dont see any place that settings like font changed etc are being saved under server side

there must be some bug in main soul.exe I believe ...
for example I noticed had before this with storing "blocked character names" in blacklist.. now its saving proper ... but rest still dont :/ And its saved locally not on server ...

So still hoping for anyone hit any ideas

Having toyed with the packet for it, i can guarantee you, its server side sent.

Could be left over code in GameSetup.ini ild say, who knows, maybe its stored in both.

ill pull back up the code for the blocked players (in current soul.exe) for you too if i remember.

the gamesetup.ini is where it says what to save for the client ... it works with the log folder.... "it also" has a function to dump the saved data to the server as well as the uap.ini which provides logs server side of the same thing

maybe try changing ur gamesetup.ini settings and look in the settings folder in log/yourservername/setup.ini
and compare them.....
with some trial and error you could debug the settings ....
there are places to save these settings server side as well.... which is what the dumprecord is for in the gamesetup.ini and uap.ini

Hmmm

well appears that nothing is helping...
I already did loads of tests with different configurations and options...
doesnt look like GameSetup.Ini and log/xx/setup.ini have any influence on saving info like: what font changed by player ... or if used background for chat ....

Strange ... its like this FONT setting for player is not mention to be saved ever :/
I dont see Any connections of font attach under server side ...
and under soul.exe and dll files for it ... I do see attached font.ini etc but honestly no where I see place to adjust by hand default "Size" of fonts etc...
And even if I would like to change "size" of fonts that are setuped under strres.ini - I fail ...


So question in this way put maybe:
Does Anyone has this saving Font "working"
Or
Had it or even seen it working?

along time ago when i was playing with fonts, all i done was EDIT

gamesetup.ini

[FontInfo]
FontName=simsun
FontSize=16
FontColor=0x0
FontOverColor=0xFF0000
FontDownColor=0x00FF00

and font.ini ?

simsun 16

Match them up, i cant remember exactly, and i aint sure if this helps at all :S

Changing font name and size from this files ( font.ini , gamesetup.ini ) works fine but chaning them in game and then relog. every thing back to normal " nothing saved "

i also tried that in other eo private game and same problem , so i suggest making a tool to let the player change the font ( inside the login tool soul )

What i'm trying to say is ...

Tool has a options with all fonts that works in the game and player choose it then press save and open game

that tool will work in ini\font.ini and ini\gamesetup.ini .... so the tool will replace the fonts that player choosed with the current on in font.ini and gamesetup.ini

this is like a bad idea but if there are no other choice it will do the work

about blacklist , i dunno anything about it or which file control it

crazy suggest but i'm trying to help

Sounds like a good idea, but surely there must be a way to save it, can you save it on official eo, i havnt played in along time ?

changing the font to a font that it doesnt have the files for will result in "font not found" errors and changing back to the original one.... as well any chinese characters in your npcs and or actions will be broken have to use whats there...or add the font itself not just the name of it

This part looks like simply has no meaning... does not work or catch any changes under this part... I dont see even connection inside soul.exe etc to read from this file line "[FontInfo]" etc...
IF this part would work... and this darn "16" size of Simsun would work ... Then I wouldnt even ask about ideas for this problem

these 2 looks like only influencing on changes inside game

graphic.dll as I can see is responsible for the way how font is visible as I can guess whe watching it under dissasembler...

So ... my aim would be:

Font.ini - SimSun 16
strRes - system (and here I need to make it as 16 size but there is no where to do so)


So still leaving with question:
how to make font that is set under strRes.ini into being by default 16 in size... ?

FontInfo was never used in 2005.

in the current pserver version (if i remember correctly, 20071031 (3758-1088)) FontInfo is not referenced.

Font handling is pretty hard to trace in disassembly due to all the random references, end up tracing GL code rather than what your actually looking for.

Fontsetup01 and FontSetup Are loaded however their origin is quite confusing.


Interestingly PetFontName is really an easy trace.


Why this bit catches me as so interesting, is it is loaded off ini/VersionSetup.ini Which well, Does not exist in any version i see around.

Onto more digging though

AutoAttach=0

AutoAttach itself is written to but not read by a dynamic function. not 100% on what file its writing to due to the dynamic calls that happen 500000000 times on this function alone.

Enough digging at this for the day though, back to packets for me.

[Question]Saving Coordinates.

My memory based archer bot is close to done, it can jump to a certain coordinate and scatter which are the most important things right now. Anyway, I'm trying to see what would be the best way to save specific coordinates to a file and then ofcourse read them. (See it as setting a path to follow) It also has to allow other users to manipulate them to their likings, wich can be shared etc.. etc.. Now for my question, how should i approach this? Or better yet what would be my best bet and...
