i need agree with you but basicly denie with you to
i agree that we are getting lazy and that a few users are stealing some1 else his work (like my easy website , it contains a webiste from elitedemons but i got permision , is still a little differend)
even some users got stuff that they took from me and still denie that it is from me (i do not going provide a example , there are examples enouf that i fixed and re released )
on that point i can not agree with you
there are old members and fresh members , but it is to the fresh members to show there skills and not to the old members that keeps getting flamed at and that there work get stolen by the new members
i am happy to release a few things i got that i can make with my skills ( i edit stuff and add stuff and make new from old stuff ) but i just hate the part that they re release it and says that it was there idea or there own work when you can see that they just changed the desing but not the script
because that happends more and more does it not seems usefull for me to release anything anymore , i can better keep anything for my own to prevent abusing by other users
it is indeed sadly for the new users that they can not find any help anymore
but on the other side , we are still here to help if the user stay nice and provide us a reason to help
same as releasing stuff , we still release stuff if they ask for it , but why would we release stuff if they steal it back from us ?
on the other side i need to say to
the stuff i release is not always my own work , it are modified scripts that does what the user ask or that is usefull (and it coulnd be done with out the help of the other releases )
a provided example is the register script with recapcha
it is a re release of the register script that came with a template (and with permision) and i added the recapcha
but the other script that i got and that i like to release will give users to mutch trouble
a register script that is locked to domain with anti spam function (and no recapcha)
but for that reason i keep it for myself , as it is just to mutch work for us if users are to lazy to search the forum or to learn the basic
same as private servers
you see daily new servers
but how long does they survive ?? you still see users using hamachi (its there desision) but that they start complaining about a mysql error because they forgot to change the pass ??
then we ( the old members) are wondering why they even start up a private server
our point ( atleast from me) is to help players that can be sucessfully and that can understand what it is to make a server
why would we waste our time on helping servers that are dead after 2 days ? (and does not even read a forum)
last time that i provided support to some1 dit he asked that support to provide a reply ( he gave credits) because i refuse to provide a reply on it (there is a reason that it are pm's and not public posts )
how does that feels to you ??
same as the users who are complaining about a corrupt database , instead that they are mixing a database or deleting that line that provide a error are they complaining to every1 on this forum as they can not figure out what to do
those things makes us feel sad and there is nothing we can do about it
we just feel that we are not needed here as if we provide support that it is never good and that we can keep explaining it over and over again
a example of that
how many posts are there that a user says that they are blocked or not able to conect ?? (our old lovely firewall problem that no1 seems to understand that it realy blocks conections)
how many posts are there that a user ask for support because he can not start up his account server ?? (maybe mysql that is not running .. )
how many posts are there not that explain how to edit your game server to get your server online ( even those instand ready servers) and where we still need to provide support for as that user does not find that start button ??
point i mean
we feel that we are getting abused by users who does not even understand how mutch work this is
we feel sad because that many support that we need to provide to try to let other users understand that it is not easy to host a private server
on the other side , the only thing that keeps us happy is that we can provide support and the few credits we get for that support
but sadly enouf , that happyness does not stays for ever and thats why we are providing less and less support and says ... figure it out on your own as you will see that it is hard
and that it is pointless for us to waste time on your common firewall problem
if the community got more friendly users and more "smarter" persones who do not abuse us then i am sure that we will release a lot of nice releases and are happy to share new stuff
but those days .. why sharing stuff if most users does not even get a server online
the old days we where with 90 private servers (added on daily base , some left and some stays) , those days we got barely 30 servers
if you ask yourself , how many old servers there are ??
then i guess we got a sad answer
on the other side i hope to that the stuff that we release will get some credits
so we feel that we need to release more
but if that does not happends
why would be waste our time then if no1 care about it ??
