Today we adress a, for us, sad matter and an appeal to you.
Open criticism towards game-developers, enhanced comfort for players, innovation and improved game experience. These are the values elitepvpers stands for and for which we created a platform for you to discuss. Nonetheless there are doubts about our motives concerning freedom of speech and we are being confronted with severe accusations these days. We are talking about Frogster, a big gaming company.
We preferred to remain silent about our conflicts with the small and big companies out there, because we want to make sure that you can enjoy your stay here at elitepvpers without worries.
Now, however, we want to make an exception for a special case, since Frogster wants to shut down the Runes of Magic section as you know it and we should pay reparations.
That reaction came pretty surprising for us, since Frogster Online Gaming GmbH planned an advertising campaign for their game Mythos with us as a partner! The more astonishing are the accusations against us in the form of a lawsuit:
- They're charging us for commercial selling of Runes of Magic gold.
We never sold RoM gold in a commercial way, neither did our users. We observe that they are selling gold, but not for commercial purposes. They sell it, because they quit the game, because they have too much. But whatever reason it is, it's not commercial. We never found a user who farmed gold commercially or who had commercial intentions.
- They're charging us for commercially selling Runes of Magic accounts.
We never sold RoM accounts in a commercial way, neither did our users. Sure, they are selling accounts, but not for commercial purposes. They sell it, because they quit the game etc. We never saw a user selling hundreds of accounts. Our observations showed that the accounts which were sold have been given up. Those were accounts of quitters.
- They're charging us for commercial distribution of software which grants player abilities which are not available for players under normal circumstances.
But the truth is, that we dont distribute the software. Our users are offering their tools and they do it free of charge, without any commercial intentions.
There are even more things mentioned in the complaint. However, we cannot (yet) publish all of it for legal reasons.
Our attitude is clear:
We never tolerated illegal actions on our board, not to mention that we never encouraged someone to act that way. We solely created a forum with the only purpose to let players discuss and exchange opinions freely.
Ever since the RoM beta, users keep complaining about poor game performance, horrible support and unbelievably low security levels.
Recently, Runes of Magic has been hacked. Many datasets have been stolen. The intention behind it? The hacker said he wants Frogster to stop deleting / closing forum threads in the official RoM forums. He demands more security inside the game. Also, he said that Frogster is spying on their employees.
You can imagine the current public opinion of Frogster after all of this has been published in media worldwide.
elitepvpers strongly dissociates itself from any illegal activities! You, as members of this community, partially got to know our attitude towards that issue. We distance ourselves strongly from hacking any player's account. Our forum was created from players for players, not against them. We are also in no way responsible for lacking security and support on the side of Frogster and their games!
In the official Runes of Magic forums we didn't see any posts from players complaining about other players selling their redundant gold. We didn't see any posts from players complaining about other players selling their accounts privately. So we have to assume that the decision to put pressure on platforms like ours does not base on the demands and the will of the players Frogster seemingly is fighting for or rather should fight for.
We express our doubts and concerns as following:
- We wonder why Frogster files a suit while other big developers/publishers like Blizzard, NCSoft and Gameforge always refrained from doing so.
- We wonder why Blizzard, NCSoft and Gameforge never were confronted with such problems while Frogster is struggling with the situation.
- We wonder if the problem might be lacking Gamemasters and support forces.
- We wonder if "Rituofhaven" is right in stating that the GMs who are logging in once in 2-3 months are lacking any executive powers on the servers.
- We wonder why they concentrate on filing lawsuits instead of fixing the weak points in their concept.
Anyway, the most important question is: Are you willing to support elitepvpers?
If you are, then spread the word! Send these news to your friends. Write down your opinion on Twitter, Facebook, Reddit - tell it to the whole internet community!
Even if you're not into Runed of Magic - elitepvpers is fighting for the freedom of speech since the first lawsuit was filed a few years ago. We always have been fighting for your uncensored experience in the gamehacking world. Still, we have to insist that you refrain from using illegal ways in this matter and that you don't get insulting! We fight for you and we fight fair.
