Bone-you writes in C++ the minority language here (used by himself, and perhaps 1 or 2 others who are active), hasnt been active since 2005/2006 in terms of regularly posting, doesnt know hardly any of the current members of the active community, doesnt know any current exploits for the game, doesnt know any of the latest encryption routines, doesnt actively maintain any working products for conquer online, hardly known by anyone in the community with the exception of those around in 05/06.
Seems pretty clear to me mate....
Also i dont really hold a grudge, i was actually one of the only people to try and work with bone back when he introduced C++ to the community, then one day he randomly turned on me on the forums, didnt provide any real explanation for it and we have been like this ever since.

Actually, I was active well up into 2010 if I recall. After that, it was here and there mostly as I dealt with IRL and such. While I may focus on C++, I do know C#. I didn't play official back then, nor would I play it now (of course I did play it at one point up to before raiding clans I think?). This thread IS in the PRIVATE SERVER section anyway. My work back then was for private servers as well and it will always be that way. I'm still not understanding your stance here. The Lv2 and UG sections are dead. ANYTHING changed is better than it was, but you're so hellbent on me not being a part of it. Please put your grudge against me aside and focus on trying to improve the community.

Nothing against you, but I just don't see you as a candidate. You aren't enough present in the community. Idem for Zat when Ulti proposed him. You're qualified people, but I wouldn't see you as candidates.
For Ulti and Infamous, I approve.

I think either of the 3 apply. Why?
Simply because of Ult/Inf's excessive experience in the Conquer ideal; and I also think bone applies because of his brilliance to reinvigorate our community.
But who says there should be only 1 leader?

So either way inf is by far the better candidate.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying infam, shouldn't be a leader in there. I just think the three that have been mentioned could make a good mix.
If the leaders decide what is controlled and so forth you can't have just 2 leaders, it results in a deadlock when they both disagree, you put in a third it spreads it out.
bone-you - brings past experience, and his/her obvious tolerance for rude people cutting down every little thing they say.
ultimation - brings obvious current knowledge and contacts
infamous - brings obvious "intelligence" in the field along with previous experience.
The way I see it, it makes a solid team with all their own values as part of the team.

And I respect your opinion on the matter. I regret not having been more active as of late, but I've been finding it difficult to get back into it with the community as is hence why I make threads like this hoping for change for the better. I've been dying for years to get back into CO dev though.

You reappeared briefly in 2010, the last time you decided to throw a spat about the community, i dont remember you being active between 07 and 10 however.
While this thread is in the private server section, it should be in the general discussion as it is the control of info for the entire section, not just private servers, unless your going to try to argue that the encryption, and all server/client communication only applies to private servers .
My position quite frankly is this, im all for releases, im all for more open source projects, im all for better organisation, but whats the point? The community wont change, i spent years trying to get the community back to a point that we could be proud of, i releases multiple sources as resources, ran an open source private server project which when finished was designed to work with any client, and released the packet wiki which was by far one of the most useful releases in this section. And what changed? Nothing. So i ask you, whats the point. The community is not willing to change.

I laughed a little.
If we're talking about private server experience, Korvacs, CptSky, ntl3fty, and I are probably the only "experienced" members currently developing a private server. Not that I'm saying any of us should be leaders, but you're talking about private server experience.
I say Infamous, or Ultimation, or both as leaders of UG. I also think having an active UG section would give new and inexperienced members motivation to learn and release things. We all win.

I Personally agree.
Reason:
Infamous and i have been working together on many projects, i dont think we have ever come across a conflict with each other. we both respect each others decisions and always come to a middle point where we are both happy.

That's fine. Step aside and let someone else try? You've obviously tried all you could and to no avail. If you've burned yourself out doing it, that's quite alright, but don't discourage anyone else from trying. CO is still one of my most favorite mmo's I had ever played. I'd love to see dev for it re-ignited.

A lot of people have tried and the result will still remain the same. The way people find the community is not because they want to learn anything, but in most cases, because they search on google "How to make a Conquer Online Private Server" and then they just expect we have it all for them. I agree with you in some way in that, but nothing can change the community.

I vote for Ulti and inf, big names at the co section, so there must be a reason for that :P
i also think lateralus deserves a spot in though dunno if he wants to join or not.

Im not stopping you lol, just saying inf is the more suitable candidate for leadership of the UG, there is nothing stopping you from trying to change the community anyway, except from seemingly this requirement for you to lead the UG?
I wasnt leading the UG when i tried after all, and it wouldnt have effected it anyway.
You merely asked for my position so thats it.
