Seriously, following this advice would cut down at least 95% of questions asked here - learn about what you're trying to do and think about implementation before trying to implement anything, and only after some failed attempts do you ask questions. Thread summed up in one sentence.
Hate that videos explanation of what the internet is, it implys you can go and find the internet in the real world and it will just be a huge cable running round the planet. Stupid explanation lol.

Yah... mostly I liked it as an introduction. The internet is bus topology (so they kinda got that right)... but I really hope that nobody thinks that there's a cable that connects them to gmail.com like that. Really it's just a bunch of nodes (each node being a computer), and the ip protocol tells it where to go. Then... the tcp protocol breaks down the packet at the destination sight (which is why Conquer Servers use TCP). I would put more but I doubt anyone would read it.

I doubt anyone would read it too :/ Well... anyone who lacks common sense which is what this guide is hopefully targeting lmao. At least because of this guide I finally understand what a packet is... progress, progress.
What?? No, the internet is not Bus topology, not in the slightest..
The Internet is closest to a hybrid Mesh/Tree/Star topology.
Heres a picture of the internet:
These are all webservers and high level networking nodes.
If you think thats a bus, then you definitely need to go back and relearn network topology.
Oh man. That's a cool picture.
Bus topology is what was taught to us and it still makes sense though.
It's a web, but it doesn't have a set direction like ring topology. It's definitely not star topology (though it might be in our home networks and our ISP). Even though it is more of a mesh, it still relies on the basic structure of bus topology in that it goes through each node and it doesn't have a set direction.
You're right though. The Ip protocol really has defined the new topology. It is more like a mesh than anything else (and I like how to defined it using that word). Again, that picture is **** ******* amazing (fake or not).
Its a hybrid topology, combining mesh (many nodes interlinked with alternative routes), star (since many nodes link to multiple other nodes in a star formation) and tree (since there is a hierarchy for the majority of the inter on an inter-continental, country, state, borough scale).
Alot of the internet can easily be described as a star of stars, most commonly found at a country/state level and bellow, a good example is the zoomed in section, that is a star topology.
It definitely has no aspect that involves bus topology im sorry to say, bus topology is such that all data put onto the cable in question, is sent to every client which is connected, you also can only send data along the line one client at a time, the bus must not be in use when you send. These 2 facts alone demonstrate that the internet isnt made up of bus topology at any stage.
Bus topology networks have long been abandoned in favour of using switches and tree/star network topology.
And yeah the picture is real, pretty awesome aint it, there are plenty of pictures like it which more accurately show which nodes have the most traffic flowing through them and such, but i think this one better demonstrates how complex the internet is, even with only a handful of devices.
I don't compare to Korvacs ._.
I don't pretend that I do either.
Between you and Arco- I don't get why you always comment like that.
I have a lot to learn.

Just a few questions to private server owners... 09/29/2010 - CO2 Private Server - 1 Replies 1. How is a server "the best" when it's brand new, non-tested by new players, and could have unknown bugs?
2. Besides normal server TQ features (like nobility, flowers, honor arena, talismans, VIP, 2nd reborn, no lag), what makes yours stand out from the ordinary that makes players go "Interesting... That's original!"?
(Or, are the ideas on your server completely original and brand-new?)
3. Not only have you edited/created the server rates, but have you actually gone through what players...
[All private server owners read]Back links 09/06/2010 - Shaiya Private Server - 0 Replies A backlink is kinda like a deal between you and E pvpers.
they let you advirties your server and only ask 2 things of you.
1. have no keyloggers or things like that in the DL to it.
2. have a link back to E pvpers on your website.
the first you should know how to do but some people are not adding a back link.
Question for private server owners 01/09/2010 - Dekaron Private Server - 11 Replies Hi owners of privates servers.
Does anyone got this error today when loading server? This error does not start DF or siege automaticaly. Yesterday 24:00 everything was ok, but today no more working, nothing was changed. I will answear to questions wich will be asked me:
1. Yes I have searched google for that (found results but useless for my experience with SQL)
2. Yes I have looked into SQL stored procedures SP_DEADFRONT_GET_TIMEINFO but not understood there anything too.
