after looking at breeding with my gold and red it seems that unfortunately breeding does not change the bars by a fixed amount each time (like the -4/-6/8 above)
guess thats why the tq site says "If you're lucky you may receive a rare breed"

Just so you know.. a woman from the server I play on had made a blaze horse... hers is +8 or 9 I forget.. and she didn't like it.. so she made it black!

Steed Colour Breeding
To breed for a certain colour you must have your starter horse and then breed into it with any of the 3 varieties (black,white or maroon), when you breed the 3 coloured bars at the bottom change.
Main Steed + Minor Steed = New steed

Mortor Steed - White + Black + Black
Shadow Steed - Black + White + White
