Here's some info I've come across during my searches for info about breeding and actually testing them.
when u compose a
white mount:
blue bar- increases
red bar- decreases
black mount:
green bar- increases
blue bar- decreases
Maroon mount:
red bar- increases
green bar- decreases
Now a friend of mine says the third color that isn't mentioned does get affected but I haven't noticed cause the change is so insignificant.
255 = 100%
191.25 = 75%
127.5 = 50%
63.75 = 25%
Those are the approximations of where the bar should be when you see the actual RBG values.
That link will show images of majority if not all steeds with the RBG bar visuals to kinda help you with making the steed you want and there is some combos for some of the steeds.

from what I gather the only way your making rare steeds, or for that matter any steed you particularly want is by combining enough steeds in appropriate order to even out to the exact RGB values set for the steed you desire.
Which is lame as hell and will require someone somewhere to waste alot of money and then bother to post the combinations. That or you need someone to run the calculations based off of all the color options, and theoretically they should be able to come up with. I think. the main issue being debated was that some of the rare's had a higher combined RGB than 405 which is supposedly the top. So somewhere there is an exception or way around that to continue adding to the values.

so to breed for a certain colour you must have your starter horse and then breed onto it with any of the 3 varieties (black,white or maroon), when you breed the 3 coloured bars at the bottom change so if you breed methodically you can end up exactly where you want :)
***EDIT*** if you look at the screenys at the bottom you will see that the orange bar is maroon, the blue is white and the green is black, the numbers stand for how much of the bar is filled...
