Nope, these guys explained it too me. +1s are generated by the server as the item is being picked up. So as of now, its impossible to identify +1s on the ground because you won't know if its a +1 until its in your inventory and the server assigns a the +1 attribute (be it the 0 or the 1) to it.
Also, I had another idea, but because I don't know very much about programming and the like I wouldn't have any idea how to go about this. Would it be possible for a sound to play everytime a ref, uni, elite, or super drops. Because sometimes you simply don't look around or the item name is covered by something else. If this was possible I think it'd be fantastic, but I can see how this would be very hard to do.

at what approximate lvl L0 ends and L1 begins?
I mean suppose peach backsword , which is i think very low lvl bs ( 5 or 10 ) is ofcourse L0 or Low Normal. So what is the level of bs at which it becomes Normal Normal and then High Normal ?
( bs just as an example.. are the transition levels same for all items ? )

You are getting it a bit wrong, it has nothing to do with the items level.
It is just the items quality, and nearly every item you can wear got L0, L1, L2.
L0 is the worst of the item's type.
L1 is slightly better than L0.
L2 is slightly better than L1.
Ref is slightly better than L2.
Uni is slightly better than Ref.
Eli is slightly better than Uni.
Sup is slightly better than Eli.
I hope this explains it to all of you :P
Edit: I just named those items L0, L1, L2 because the authors of CO did not give them names like Ref, Uni etc.

okies, i understood it but i cant understand why they made it that way .. I mean norma, ref, uni, elite and super .. thats all that was needed... then whats the big idea on CO side to make items L0, L1 and L2 anyways when all those 3 are going to be NORMAL items .. unless !! if its something like if u pick up L2, it has more chances of getting a sock or more chance of server giving it an attrib of +1

Ok, going step by step, i will take up the job of evaluating the possibility of " + " on a normal item.
I will first pick up 120 items ( 3 inventories full ) of low-normal, then normal-normal, then high-normal items and will try to see how many turn out to be +1s.
If this trial goes non-conclusive, may be later on we can think on some other path like easy upping in TC with lower mets/ easy quality improvement in TC with less number of DB trials .. or still better chance of socket. Somewhere we gotta stike luck !! AMEN !!

Sorry to inform but the trial failed miserably .. basically i just did it for L2 first 40 inventory and none was +1 .. I have not given up but basically a new thought came to my mind for which i stopped the trial.
Usually MMORPGs run at serverside based on sparse matrix... now is it just possible that L0,L1 and L2 are nothing but 3 different cache on serverside managing item drops ? ( kinda to reduce server load or optimized programing kinda thingy ) .. may I request info on a fact that has been mentioned above which says that L0 item is slightly better than L1, L1 than L2 and so on .. what attribs of an item were evaluated to find out L0 is "better" than L1 and so on ? (umm.. i mean L0 is better than L1 in what sense ? ) ( i hope what i want to say / ask is clear .. my english is very poor .. very very sorry for that )

L0 is not better than L1/L2, it goes like this: L2 > L1 > L0 (the lower the weaker).
You can proove this to yourself, go find the same item with all 3 different levels.
Lets say you found L0TaijiRobe, L1TaijiRobe and L2TaijiRobe.
You will notice that the defense of L1TaijiRobe is slightly higher than the one of L0TaijiRobe.
And L2TaijiRobe has again a little bit more defense than L1TaijiRobe.

oh btw i also noticed that all the items sold in TC shop are all L2. ... so i think there is no use of conducting further testing with probabilty of server putting "+1" attrib depending on if its L0,L1,L2 etc .. ending trial

I didn't write this, but it looks easy enough to do. Replace the itemtype.dat file in your ini folder with this one. Maybe back up the one you have first though.
It displays the quality of the items on the ground. The only stupid thing is that +1 items don't look any different because they aren't listed any diffrently in the client data files, it's determined server side.

This is an updated item.dat file which fixes the MB token names, quality of items on floor, and 2nd rb items (to pickup only items needed when using co partner). Pretty self explanitery :)
