sorry that I couldn't update the file, I've been busy trying to level my character on sapphire :P
I will update it with the new patch tomorrow, as soon as possible.
Now this patch was a real joke, not more than 10 bytes were changed in the itemtype.dat. They added 10 sounds "for future use", so why not just releasing the patch later when they got more stuff to fix/add. They also added a new sword animation of a sword that they aren't using anyway.
Another joke: The download speed and packet loss, I've been trying dozens of times to download the file, failed. Used a proxy located in their country and it worked with 50KB/sec, my guess is that this company is using the cheapest of the cheapest hosting companies in order to save money.
Well looking at this file in a hex editor I really believe that it's possible to show +1s. Although it would take a LOT of worrk, and most of that being guess work, it could be done. Because if you look at that and notice the same item listed several times, and then look at the items in the game. I'll use a +1 coronet lvl 15 for example. I seen two lvl 15 coronets. (these numbers could be off, I'm recalling from memory). One of them was L0 and the other one was L2. Then I noticed that the denfene of them were different. Making them apper in the .dat file as two different items, although to us in the game we just notice the defence to be different. Well thats just what I noticed. If anyone can say anything against this please, go ahead. I think anything would be helpful, and maybe even get started to listing +1 items.
Sorry if some of this was... Worded wrong. Enlish isn't my first language.
I have deeply looked into that file days ago, and came to the result that there is no way to display +1 items.
L0 / L1 / L2 are the same items just the stats a bit changed (Still weaker than refined). Just go hunting and get 2-3 items with the same name, you will notice the stats of one of them is slightly different then the one of the other 2.
Items like PureGown are added several times too, but that's because it varies in color.
Well you'd know much more then I would, but I think its totally possible to show +1 on items that don't have a color. Mainly weapons, rings, necky, boots, and so on. This is because they are only listed once, so it is possible to tell exatly what the L# is unlike with items that have color, they can only be noticed (in terms of talking about the file) in numbers, and its impossible to tell what color the numbers stand for. Do you get what I'm saying?
Well I'm going to look into this a bit more. But even if only weapons, rings, neckys, boots, and so other things can be listed thats a lot better then nothing right?
Oh, and BTW. I owe you a HUGE thanks. Because of this file I found a super atk ring I probably wouldn't have picked up otherwise. =D
reason being that you cannot show +1 items by simply editing itemtype.dat is:
The drops, Ref, Uni, Elite, super... Are Shown by your client the moment the item drops on the ground. So therefore, it's easy to show the quality by editing with a hex editor.
However, The drop (+1) Is not determined as the item drops, but rather, as the item is picked up. it is nothing more than a variable in the item codes itself. for example:
a WishScepter Drops on the Ground. its Read L3 by your hexxed-(.dat) file.
As you pick the item up the server either sends a 0 or 1 to your client in the variable (+1). If it is +1, the variable would be (+1)=1.
Due to the fact that +1 is calculated as it's picked up, there is no need to show on the floor.
However, for future Notes, A program may be able to scan the packets given to your client, and if someone can "unlock" the variable for +1, you can get a notice on your screen (similar to multi tool's scanner notice.) telling you that you picked up a +1.
EDIT: Before anyone thinks about asking, No, you cannot continually drop an item over and over to get +1. the server also sends a 1 to the variable saying that its been verified by the server as picked up. Once there is a 1 there, It cannot be changed. (besides dura.)

so how co client can indentify +1 item then if not from itemtype.dat?
I think somewhere there is a file in our client can identify +1s

Item quality hex hack 07/28/2007 - CO2 Exploits, Hacks & Tools - 15 Replies I didn't write this, but it looks easy enough to do. Replace the itemtype.dat file in your ini folder with this one. Maybe back up the one you have first though.
It displays the quality of the items on the ground. The only stupid thing is that +1 items don't look any different because they aren't listed any diffrently in the client data files, it's determined server side.
comments on the edit (if you don't care and just want to use it, see the first paragraph)
The edit doesn't look...
