Hallo zusammen,

Hello everyone,

after my break, I am now active on the project again. Over the past months, I used the time to further deepen my knowledge in game development, especially with Unreal Engine.

My main focus has been on 3D models, animations, and the assembly of objects based on template data from the original game client. During this work, I realized that not all objects can be handled as static assets. Because of this, I started building my own data structure to properly solve these issues.

So far, this approach works well for most objects. However, there are still a few cases causing problems due to missing data or entries that cannot be clearly assigned. Most likely, these are objects that were still in development at the time or were never fully completed.

For the past two weeks, I have been actively working on the project again within the limits of my current possibilities. I have also already done a lot of work on the website.

As soon as level streaming in Unreal Engine works reliably and smoothly, I will present another preview video.

Thank you all for your patience and continued support.

Best regards

Hallo zusammen,

* Texturen
* Bilder
* 3D-Modelle inklusive Animationen
* Terrain-Daten

Hello everyone,

here's another small update from me.

Unfortunately, I don't have any new videos or screenshots of my Unreal Engine 5 progress to share this time. Instead, I'd like to release a small project that should answer at least some of the questions I've been asked over the past months.

One of the questions I keep getting is:
"How did you do that?"

Rather than answering the same questions over and over, I decided to package part of my workflow into a small Python project and make it freely available to anyone who is interested.

The tool reads an Archlord game client, extracts its data, and converts it into commonly used formats.

It can export:

* Textures
* Images
* 3D models including animations
* Terrain data

All 3D model exports are based on Archlord's grouped template system. Explaining that system in detail would go beyond the scope of this post.

Hopefully, this will be useful for anyone working on their own tools, research, or projects.

Have fun with it, and as always, feedback is very welcome!

P.S.: The tool was developed and tested using the 2013 Archlord client. Compatibility with older or newer client versions cannot be guaranteed. The terrain materials still require some manual adjustments. Texture blending/mixing is only partially supported by the GLTF format. However, the material names indicate the correct texture order, making it possible to reconstruct the terrain materials accordingly.

Hallo zusammen,

Hello everyone,

here's another small update from me for anyone who's interested or might find it useful for their own projects.

As some of you may know, the Archlord game client does not contain any spawn data. After some research, I found a table online that appears to be very close to the latest known state. I compared it with the world map, verified the information, and combined everything into a single resource.

I hope you'll find it useful!

Hallo zusammen,

Mir fehlen aktuell folgende Dateien:

- a010180t.tx1
- a010280t.tx1

Hello everyone,

I could use a little help from anyone who has different versions of the Archlord client.

I'm currently missing two texture files and haven't been able to find them in any client version I've checked so far.

The missing textures are:

- a010180t.tx1
- a010280t.tx1

It's entirely possible that these textures never actually existed and are simply leftover references in the mesh that were never used.

If anyone happens to have these files or finds them in another client version, I'd really appreciate it if you could let me know.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Just wanted to sincerely thank you for sharing your file extraction/conversion tool.

Have been looking for an animation converter for ages and can now finally continue with my model port to another game. Thanks for keeping archlord alive!

Not trying to hijack your thread but while porting over the models and animations to the other game I experiemented with the textures a bit.

Even though most are only 256x256px they have extremely fine detail. The output for some of the newest image generation models with the textures as input lead to exceptional results.

See attached a few example for the Archlord, the Royal Knights and his dragon Alcadia. I found this quite impressive for the first try and wanted to share.

If used on every texture and by adding bump maps etc. this could be a nice additional leap forward for making Archlord look better than ever once the UE port is complete.
