I've checked this across multiple platforms/directX versions and nothing but just the fog/terrain resets which is how it should be unless your completely reloading the client.
Derp hooks to AA then the slider controls are all timer based to lock the settings in place to what you set until a complete client reload. The only difference is that there is a control for fog density & ramp scale that loads on d3d10/9 in different locations in memory depending on the dx version set in options an thus why some people are having that issue - which I've resolved already in testing.
So not entirely sure why you would be having something different happen? Can you tell me the GPU and DX + OS version your running and if its anything else mod'd on your client by chance or that you are running with it? Do you have it set as admin or anything restrictive and also - is there anyone else that is having this happen?
Best way to check is, change Zoom to max & change maps then see if the camera is still able to max zoom to what you set it as.
Again, that should only happen on a complete reloading of the client and only fog/terrain will not stay set on going from world > char select > world because of timers locking what you set in place. I will change the fog later today, delay the swim set and if it would pease I can set a tooltip that will pop when moving the sliders to display the values but adding an input like a numeric updown would just be too much an not needed.
