At the moment everyone is talking about next-gen consoles. More and more rumours about publications, beta tests and announced features keep circulating. Many of those spread without any proof and have its simple purpose, to heat up the interested community. Though some might be true, there's one more kind amongst them - false rumours, which get started intentionally and are used to access private data.
Recently, Call Of Duty fell victim to last-named rumours. Strangers created a website, which was supposedly used for the beta registration of "CoD: Modern Warfare 4". Activision then warned against that website and explained it's nothing but a fake. It has now advanced to the point, that more fraudsters try their luck with consoles and not any longer with games as before.
That's why Microsoft now cautions against fraudulent websites, which allegedly allow a beta registration for Xbox 720. Larry Hryb, director of the programming department at Microsoft, lately announced:
"Confirmed: All sign-up pages for testing the "next Xbox" are FAKE. Do not give them your information - it's a scam."
If you see websites like that on the Internet, take care!
