I'm sure many of you fishers know about the Weather-Beaten Journal that you get from fished up crates. When used, it gives you the "find fish" ability, which allows you to see fishing nodes on your minimap. Hella handy for fishing primal waters.
Anyway, the downside is the fact that, as soon as you use the journal, you can never loot it again from any fished up crates. However, that doesn't mean the journal isn't still there.
so here's the step-by-step.
1. Fish some Curious Crates from Pure Water nodes in nagrand (up in the water elemental part of the elemental plateau, some spawn in the lake down below as well). DO NOT OPEN THESE CRATES.
2. trade them to a friend who has fishing, but does not already have the find fish ability. If there is a Journal in the crate, he will be able to see it.
3. Keep the crates that you know have a journal in them, get rid of the rest
4. Sell the crates by way of /2, the journals usually sell for 40-50g a pop, but sometimes go for as much as 200g.
The best part, curious crates drop like candy both from pure water, and from Steam Pump Flotsam (found around zangarmarsh)
5. ?????
6. PROFIT
(as an aside, i think these can be sent to an alt who has fishing. The alt might then be able to see the journal inside the crate, and just sell it. However, I've yet to find a journal inside a crate using this method, maybe the ones sent to the alt were just unlucky, i do not know)
