According to Microsoft’s Xbox Twitter account, a new XBox One subscription model is heading for release soon. Like its competitor from Electronic Arts, EA Access, users will get exclusive deals and discounts up to 20% for games and DLCs which are part of the new model. While the service doesn’t need a Xbox Live membership, said membership is mandatory for multiplayer games anyways. Furthermore, Microsoft also revealed some additional details. Unlike Sony, which is allowing its users to stream games, Xbox users have to install the games directly onto their HDD.

With a starting selection of approx. 100 games for its planned release in spring 2017, new games are supposed to be added to the catalogue in the future. While members of the Xbox preview program can already test the new service for free, regular pricing will be 9,99€/month. Before the release, there will also be an exclusive beta for Xbox Live Gold members. Although its product page suggests that the service is currently in development for Windows 10, it’s unlikely it will find its way to the PC – press releases already reported that the Xbox Game Pass will only be available for Xbox One.
