Allowing MP4 Embeds through HTML5 Video Tag
The problem:
Elitepvp currently only allows video embedding from big websites such as YouTube, Streamable, Vimeo etc.. The issue is these websites TOS Guidelines takes down our videos every other day - forcing us to make new fake accounts on VPNS , Upload all our videos again (especially hard for people like me who have a lot of threads open) and manually edit every single streamable link in every single thread so we can NOT ONLY adhere to the Elitepvp guidelines that force us to post media.. but ALSO provide the customers with good video reference of what we are selling.
This is a constant cycle that I have been doing every single morning almost - where i have to use a temp-email to create a new streamable account - upload all videos and proceed to open up all posts (enough tabs to make my PC slow down lol)
Why this needs fixing as soon as possible:
Elitepvp thrives from providing the community a safe and good marketplace that users can trust - this community is made up from Customers and Sellers. From a Sellers POV especially ones that want to start out - the idea of having to use 3rd parties that simply hate you for the content you are uploading and forcing you to apply this unnecessary work can be daunting and might just turn you away from the platform as soon as you get hit with multiple warnings for not having media on your selling threads. From a Customers POV (Which is the most vital because most of the traffic is made up from them) fixing this could probably enhance retention and just overall be a huge benefactor for the website. A customer is to be provided with proof and media of the sellers product and hence making this hard for it to reach them will turn a lot of customers away. Not only would it improve the websites reputation because I've seen countless posts where it looks like a dead deserted territory because the seller simply stopped uploading media and it looks very outdated when videos are missing from threads. Its a small thing but it adds up to a huge % when applied to the masses of Elitepvp and I simply don't see why it shouldn't be implemented if totally possible.
Not to mention - If for example a sellers media is taken down - and they haven't found out yet or are sleeping for lets say around 8 hours - if that post is Sticky Bumped to the top - that would be 8 hours of potential sales and advertising driven away from something so little.
The solutions:
Many sellers including me would love to host the .mp4 files on their website directories so it can't be taken down. Simply allowing the embedding of mp4 files from our own websites would make things so much easier. I already thought that this could be used maliciously BUT then you could make it so that only people with Elite Membership have access to embed these type of embedding. Also realistically what is stopping someone from uploading something malicious to Streamable or Imgur and posting it to Elitepvp - this won't increase or decrease the risk of someone achieving their malicious goal at the end of the day.
However if this is not enough to convince the Elitepvp Gods you could make a trust system where you can apply to use this type of embedding - if you are a seller with reputation then put in a form and you will be allowed or denied access to this feature. There are so many ways to go around doing this.
Important - Im not saying to directly upload the files to elitepvp servers - that would be a mess. I'm saying let the Sellers upload their .mp4 to their own hosting services such as their websites. Then allow the direct embedding of those .mp4 links.
Who does this benefit? Everyone!
