Hunters take no risk and make less gold per trade. They make more money than thiefs because they join parties and make gold from multiple traders at one time. Traders/hunters always make more gold.

Later when traders start doing large caravans is when thiefs can make plenty of gold(if you're strong). People are still leveling and jobbing is not very active yet. Even though I have seen players making trades sense level 20 witch is awesome. I always suggest starting as a trader/hunter to farm gold and then go thief later if you feel like it. Maybe the GMs will up the rates for thiefs maybe not but either way the fact that theifs make less gold from a 5* is how it always is.
