You don't have an emulator. DSREMU was around long before you were even in this community and did almost everything your emulator can do. There are others that can do just as much. You took an existing emulator and changed shit around and added a few packets. That's not impressive.

1. No you couldn't, ROFL.
2. That's not how copyright works.
3. Basing your work on a GPL'ed project is copyright violation. That's quite different than writing a project similar to someone else's, putting it under copyright then claiming they've violated your copyright. It's pretty clear to everyone that isn't a complete moron that your code is simply a modified sremu.

You do realize I don't claim other peoples' code as my own, right? SREmu is a project, and I am the only founder still around. I am not saying "this source code is all mine." I'm saying this project, and all of its source code, contributed by everyone who contributed during its creation, is COPYRIGHTED under the GPLv3. When you infringe upon that copyright, you're not abusing what I've contributed, you're abusing what EVERYONE contributed. That's an incredible insult.

There are two massive flaws with your logic.

1. Giving someone a copy of your emulator for donating IS SELLING IT. There is legal precedent in EVERY major country ALL over the place. Trading an item for money in ANY FORM WHATSOEVER is considered a legal sale. I really hope you're reporting every penny of that income to your tax authority. I could have some fun contacting one of their lawyers and letting them know you're taking "donations" for services which can be seen as tax evasion, and that's probably going to carry a huge fine ($20,000+).

2. Even if you want to call it "taking donations," giving your emulator to ANYONE ELSE, PERIOD is considered distribution. The GPL is NOT a traditional copyright license. It is a copyleft license. When you give a copy of a derivative work TO ANYONE under ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, YOU MUST INCLUDE THE SOURCE CODE OR A PROMISE OF IT. I don't care if we're just talking about your buddies you know IRL, you've failed to uphold that premise and hence have VIOLATED the GPL.

If you don't want to believe me, go ask any lawyer in your country to interpret it for you. It's been upheld time and time again.

Further, you were never an SREMU coder. And you really do not want to begin comparing what I have done versus what you have done. You're at about 0.01% on that list.

I will never understand that. I remember the first time I went on his forums and saw in his signature that he claimed to be a "C++ Programmer." I thought to myself.. no ******* way.. there's no way lol. I look at SEA, it's VB6, it's using a modified DB from DSREMU, it's using a ton of DSREMU and sremu code and I can't help but laughing non-stop.

Nobody who can be called a C++ programmer is going to continue "working" on an emulator for years in VB6. It's a deprecated and DEAD language. Even Microsoft doesn't support it anymore. It's also one of the worst languages for doing things like this.

Perhaps it's because he didn't have a C++ source to copy and then modify slightly to call "silkroad emulator ADVANCED" lol. Who knows. SEA/SSE has no future.
