Nostalgia is hitting hard with Silkroad
I've been playing modern games like Black desert, blade and soul, league of legends and many more and i honestly say this from the heart ..
It feels like i just wanna download the main Silkroad online server, create a chinese character and just walk around listening to jangan,dw and Hotan's music and battle themes while fighting mobs with the excitement of a child, I want to visit Dw's cave and listen to the intense music while fighting mages and moles.
I haven't played Silkroad in a long time, i've tried many private servers in the past and i also tried Dymer which is considered the big thing right now but they even disabled the in game music, Its such a soulless experience. It's go there, do that, farm these coins and BOT, just bot!
Sorry if that took some of your time to read, that's just how i feel.

for me, the most nostalgia thing on SRO has to be the music and the sick animation on most skills
for the music, I almost feel like crying when I hear stuff like

This music brings so much emotions and memories to me, i remember spawning in Samarkand with my lv 32 character and i can hear my wolf's roars. I was running back everyday from school to check my Character and farm event boxes at Ong, running throught Mugiji to go Penon taxi was my biggest fear.
Whatever happens to this game, it will remain in a deep special place in my memories. ♥

Samarkand was never a nostalgia thing to me back on Venus.
It was always about DW and the cave. That dark, deep beat, that environment, getting on the mages floor and wrecking them with a lv 72 full int spear nuker, hitting down party giants, where others with their bots getting pwned but you taking down that **** mob after 10 minutes and looting the **** by your hand - that is the feeling which I still got from the original SRO. Hell, I even use that dw cave ost for my incoming calls ... and sometimes I forget to pick up the phone :'D
I also tried different MMO"RPGs" like Aion, Lineage2 (which is still great, played it simultaneously), B&S and Black Desert ... I thought my last one, BDO, would actually bind me to a great game ... but the RNG of it is ****** ******* ridiculously and atrociously stupid and not worth it. Being more a town and worker manager with a trader-rip off from SRO with no reasonable progress and stupidly exponentially increasing enemy difficulty where your gear gets lost on track. Same goes for B&S and Aion. It doesn't keep up the interest as long as I would like to. The soundFX are low quality, the music annoying and looping NPC talk while you have to "increase your amity" (in BDO in this case) is horrifically annoying.
The time back in Aege will be unforgettable for me. Very first server, Lv 12 chinese male, young tigers, sitting on the ground due to little gold and no spare HP pots, hybrid STR build but focusing force skills, getting attacked by a Thief, which I did mistaken for a player and flamed at "NO PVP!" - nothing gave me that experience back once again.

My first ever character was that zombie lady on Alps. I think I started in late 2006 or something. I remember upping pacheon mastery even though I was killing mobs with a glavie...had no clue how to play the **** game since I was about 10 years old at the time. A friend of mine who was a bit older introduced me to the game and said it was the best game he'd played so far. Well, at the time, I agreed with him instantly after opening the game up for the first time. That music man...whenever I hear it now, my whole body becomes weak and nostalgia hits hard What amazed me the most were people with higher level characters and flashy items. They made me want to put effort in the game to reach that status too. Good times...

*cough* media.pk2 edits *cough*
Making beginner tier skills look like high end tier. Buffs for example, that big fiercy fire and icy crystals floating around one's body or "unlocking" piercing skill's electrifying animation

but back then, we didnt do that
most of us, when we were kids messing up with the game, we simply dreamed to have a "fabled" SOS or SoSun, or at least a +7 item

Private servers nowadays lack "experience" (unrelated to developing skills)
In fact, they're focusing on stability rather than introducing "real silkroad experience" to the players.
Bot and bot..
And in the end, they think that long-term is all about lasting for 7-8 months then make a poll or something to convince the players that the server deserve a second chance (Reborn/Reopen).
Making the final level reachable within few hours or maximum, a day. Doesn't provide any of silkroad experience.
What we addicted about silkroad, that we've been communicating with everyone, being low level didn't mean that much, and befriending anyone.. we had fun either ways.
I remember the hype of new degrees, each time a degree knocks on the launcher, it felt that a new adventure is coming.. As expected of Joymax, their updates were beyond the imaginations.
As for private servers, there'll be nothing new.. let's say for example the "Item Global Link", Joymax made it 7-6 years ago.
Private Servers nowadays pretends that this is some good/new ****.
Now I wonder, did they really played Silkroad ?

You didn't, you just reminded me of how it felt being a player in Joymax's Silkroad.

Maybe you haven't done that. Well me on the other hand spent like 2-3 days like a maniac learning how to edit items in media PK.
This is my oldest isro pic I could find it's from 23.01.2007
I remember feeling so proud that I managed to edit those and made my char look so cool.
Also thinking back when I started at cap 70 back in september 2006 and I'm still playing this game in 2019 like hell most I took off it was 2-3 months since back in 2006 lol.
Also I found this playlist

Oh my how well you describe Electus when you mention the long-term or the experience.( Yes I have a thing with Electus and that is their cocky attitude thinking they are the peak of the psro scene because they are open 7-9 months. They forget they've opened the same shit but a bit different server for the 5th time. As all other psro owners do. Like Ruby, Reality and my other only chinese cap100 shit servers. Sorry for my frustration)
It's sad that private servers will never achieve what isro had back in the days.
But tbh even if a psro with 1x rates and the set-up of isro back in 2008-2009 would open who would play without botting or goldbotting the thing.
I mean we could have a top isro files based server with an experienced owner like MegaMax could provide it. Sad part is the community is too dumb/poor to play on such a server.
1st: no 5$ for paid bot so it's a no go for guess which players?
2nd: Most of them have no idea how the never files work or if they would be downgrded still no go cuz well look at my 1st point.

I must say that, what Joymax achieved.. Private Servers will get an idea about it after 10 years or so..
To prevent botting, it requires a quest based server.
That's why Joymax were furious when they spawned Statue of Justice back on its prime.. they worked their ass off to make a quest system which will be an advantage for the players to level up faster than hunting monsters.
When VSRO files was released, I figured that there are many quests on iSRO that gives 350k sp, 4m gold+ and more than 20% exp.. so again.. Joymax made Silkroad perfect from the beginning, I had fun myself.. People are saying that Joymax is pay2win.. They should get money from the players to pay the employees and the developers, of course. And at the same time, people's money won't go waste since it's not a private server that will last for 7 months.. They're just playing Private Servers to get the levels easier and to become the top player within a week or two..

No, isro is pretty much dead to me .. now with jcplanet you need to donate 100$ monthly ( 1k silk for the gold vip buff) and thats the least competitive you can get .. +5$ for sbot and all you get is a bot fest server with no activity but Fortress War .. even FW now is a zerk fest.
I'm playing Origin Silkroad, a non bot 80 cap server upgrading to 90 soon, it has been around for a while now and very successful and best thing is that you can't bot on it.
