1- Sql connection to DB
2- login-out
3-register
and 4 etc

OT: As I was learning PHP, I used templates, not in terms of copying stuff, but learning how it was written, how it got linked, separated from each other, how they handshaked amongst the .php files and with the server itself.

That might be the best way getting into it. Other than that, might have the learning curve suiting you (and mostly also for others).
