[Discussion] Why not unite?

I know this may sound odd to some people and may never happen but here's the thought.

Ecsro / sunworld / sjsro .. etc was kinda crappy servers but we had beautiful memories while playing them because they were the only ones around and it was fun because the whole community were in one place.

Now we're all scattered between servers for few months and then jump to another.

We now have a great content creators / developers .. so why not unite?

Why not just wipe the advertising area clean and get all the creators such as Lastthief / Akasch / Synx if he's around ... etc .. we'd have a great time and they would all put their effort into one server where everyone will join.

All the money will be spent on having a high quality server and it would have a huge capacity like 7000 or more with a lot of ideas from an innovative team that's gathered for one simple goal which is to make a perfect server for this community to get gathered and have fun again while making fine profit in the same time.

I know it may never happen since server owners nowadays are too prideful to work with someone else or at least some of them hate each other but well .. nothing wrong with discussing this so go ahead, let me know what you think.

It's also a matter of leadership. Different developers -> different styles -> different opinions -> arguments -> union collapse!

UNLESS there's a seminar to vote (in this community? gl). Now hate/pride take place. Why am I not in charge? I am too good to follow, etc.

We should also consider something important, most developers actually have their base foundation which they build most of their projects upon. @ @ still use some of their work from older servers. Same goes for Conflict (I guess, from comparing their projects). So they must think it's easier to work on what they have, what they built than start from scratch.

There's also the number of the developers in this scene. Let's get real, if any union was to happen it's not going to include all developers or wanna-be developers around here. That's just stupid. So if the good ones were to unite, you can't stop the others from creating servers and epvp's staff refused to put any kind of limitations on their "FREE" service as long as the server meets the conditions they set. So you see the point, it's not worth the effort.

That's like some presidents holding their 1 country and causing conflicts because their different points of view, every developer uses his desired files, way of thinking and way of coding.
It's a good idea but totally impossible in my opinion.

Tried to do this more than once actually it always goes to nowhere because X doesn't like Y (that's in short form but can be changed to a lot of different situations).

If only there was a way to just say "let bygones be bygones" and give each other a clean slate. Maybe then a union will be possible but that requires a lot of tolerance and patience. Also that would mean no more fights and mutual understanding and respect(in this community-lol). The marvelous result would be getting rid of **** like this:



And that would be more than worth it Exo , no matter the sacrifices and effort, simply because the experience will be much much better.

That's my SRO dream: a community united. I'd fight for that more than for other things. Somehow though i doubt it will ever happen.

Well to be fair, I have never heard of your server. Never heard anyone talking about it either, or even people that read your thread lel. Might be a bit of your problem rather than the community, advertising properly is also a very important thing to do!

It's not mine. I wouldn't fail so hard. Hell, even my SeaShadow emulator server back in the day had more players than this guy's server! And oh man was that thing buggy but it was so much fun! Way more fun than this edited waste of resources.

It's just an example of a guy who takes a ****** DB to start with, one that wouldn't attract any players because it's over-edited to the point of cancer, changes absolutely nothing but the name, rents a cheap VPS for 1-3 months and "opens" a server. He didn't even bother to create a proper thread, he didn't even bother to secure his server or advertise it just a little bit past the epvp thread. Stuff like this needs to stop happening, like for real...

Don't want to brag or be an attentionwhore... but the Elamidas team was pretty top notch.
We got Simulation for pk2.
Dizzy & Snow for miscellaneous DB & PK2 work.
xProdigy for Glows.
LastThief for management and administration & bot, filter
Denis for community handling.
10 random supporters that spoke proper english and one additional foreign language.
Choco for Advertisement and rumor spreading. (too OP at the latter)
Cherno for random ****.
Misi for a lot of stuff as well.
Lastly, my own great and awesome self for bots, filters, db and perfectionism.

We could use a good modeller and designer in addition to a video dude... But we got Yura for that now.

PS: We always need somebody to write stored procedures. But Caipi is gone and nobody else is any good here.
