Where the private server scene is at.
I joined this community in 2010 when I started on PlaySRO. Since then, I've been on countless servers. I've seen the best players, guilds and servers come crashing down to abrupt ends. The entire private server scene has become a parody of what it once was. A lot of the servers being released on a daily basis are all the same ******, carbon copies. I think it's time you all give up and admit to yourselves and one another that the Silkroad Private Server scene is dead.

I just dont get it whats up with people opening servers everyday. Hosted on bad computers, with no protections. If there were actually 2-3p servers and the whole player base would be on them it would be great. But not how it is now that players are spread all over the servers.

You forgot the part where they don't join servers over a month old because they miss 'a month of gameplay' which is pretty much why they're spread all over or how they quit then come back and asking for re-openings. The only problem was having so many private servers hosted in the first place. If the options are limited, we wouldn't have such problems.

The choice? During that time, the server files weren't that popular nor fixed to a "usable" degree.
I remember the time where ecSRO, eSRO, PlaySRO, ZCZS SRO, etc. were online at once. Not these bunch of "corrupted, 1-day-fly, wanna be, die trying getting money on each player"-hosted **** servers.
The point "why they don't join all to 2-3 servers" - because of money, dude.
Everything goes and flows with money. Joining a pserver, without getting a cut of the income? Forget it - I MA GONNA OPEN MA KRYLL SARVUR AND MADE MONEY FAST! ME DEVELOPERZ BEST! - and that is the hole story about people advertising their server for 3 months, "STARTS ON 01/01/20XX JOIN!" and are up to 1-2 months only, until they get wrecked due to lack of package controlling, connection managing, "distributed denial of service attack"-protection, exploits on their agents and gateways and SMCs and Websites, and whatever being left.
It is just about money. Stolen server files (free) - goooood, spending some money for protection and saving the server-uptime for a long run - noooooooo.

let's not talk about stability, a lot of third-party providers such can take care of that and are already doing it for the most of the servers. People nowadays are losing their trust in servers so they never join new servers that come out. They just join re-openings of big names without even taking a look at the features. In other words, you can have a badass server with advanced features and even sort out the balance between China and Europe and because your name is not Conflict, Theta, Eryx or Pioneer. Nobody will join or some people will and will get sick of it sooner or later and leave.

Too many servers, thats whats happening. You can go and check it on Pivate server advertising section and you will see everything.

The only solution for this is if any of elitepvpers staff reviews servers and sees if it's worth having a thread on it or not or charge for having a thread in the advertising section in the first place or simply both but of-course they will just tell you 'advertising here is meant to be free' which is pretty much gonna completely kill this section in less than 3 years from now.

doesnt mean it can't use a dam good cleanup + kick out these "owners" who are as greedy as they are, just look trough some topics, read some of their comments.. pfft,
Wish i had the skills to make my own server sometimes. Oh the ideas, O_O

I´m checking everyday the private sro advertising threads
and I have to realize that everyday comming more and more private servers are added.
I know that everyone wanna earn money but tell me why you do think that your server will be so successfully that you can earn money with it.
There are so many servers - we dont need 100x Cap 120 Servers.

Well im gonna put in some words about it.
The private server scene went down when people got the vsro files. Slowly, few servers came up based on these files. Since then, more and more people got in possesion of these files and finally they were released over the internet.
Im really sorry about this, and i gotta say that i never wanted this to go that far. But well we cant change the way internet works.
So since the private sro scene is dead, and there are no more foreign servers comming up...
