it can take quite a while to develop a full mmo, even for an experienced company. Anyway mmosite isn't the best source there is, and they have only recently started to license game-related engines, so this must mean they're still in early development

I bet the game is already finished or mabye like you said close to be done. But the testing phase takes a long time. The pathfinding engine is also intresting since the mobs are kind of dumb right now. They don't work together they just wander arround like ****** so I hope they use this pathfinding engine to make them much more smarter.

Although silkroadsecrets has a lot of interesting info they aren't always right. It's expected to be released in 2011. It's just a hunch and joymax bought a pathfinding engine in januari 2012 or something and the related project name was Silkroad Online 2.

We just have to wait from an official statement of joymax

Yea, they wouldn't buy license for a pathfinding engine unless they were developing a new game.
My guess for release datewould be summer 2013. They've got to the stage where AI needs to be implented, and that's pretty far imo. Still waiting for an offical announcment from Joymax about Silkroad 2 and it's release dates/beta test dates.
