Most of the ppls here dont know that much.

You've just proved, that sql 2000 is better use.

Good job.

Not really
He just proved that sql 2000 uses less RAM, which doesn't make it any better(see my prev post)

ask the players about lags and server reactions!
sql server 2008 does much more then just executing queries and giving out results for the gameserver!
look at the ram that the shardmanager is using. way less then on sql server 2008.
can you explain it?
lemme explain it for you. sql server 2008 takes too much time to process all the queries given by the shardmanager. and because of that most of the stuff stays in shardmanager's stack. forcing it someday to crash and maybe even to lose data.
let i t run 1 month without restart.and you'll get shitloads of problems.

sir, if you would be so nice, tell me, WHY should someone use a sql server version above sql 2000!

why da hell is everybody saying that newer versions are better, without giving one ******* reason why, in this particular case, it is better using a cool-newest-server-version instead of the good old sql 2000.
please... jsut saying "it is better, and consuming more ram is better too" isn't enough tbh.
please give your statement so people can actually follow you

that doesn't really make sense!
1.it won't stay in the stack
2.If it really crashes after some time it's not well programmed
3.why would it even crash???
4.if the sql server would be too slow the cpu usage would be higher
5.ever tried to run it more than a month?

it's the other way 'round...

Like I said quite some times already: lower RAM usage doesn't make it any better. It makes it worse mostly
If you don't have a SSD it could make it quite slow
You have enough RAM. It's there to be used

well this can importatn to servers depending how they operate
if the server is 1k ppl and pvp, 2000 is the best since no big data is in danger of exploiting
if the server is a big server with normal gameplay, 2008 can avoid any kind of security holes 2000 has
its my opinion
ofc, even if 2008 maybe be more secure, it wont stop a hacker exploiting a sa,123456 login

dwo/class are using 2k. i am using 2k. and it is better then 2k8 for this particular case.
sro server files were made for sql server 2000. and not even 1 function of sql server 2008 is being used by the server files / web services. so yes, it is a waste of resources, as you can see on the screens.

server files designed for all versions of sql server because you are selecting which driver server will run.main query system of sql server is exec xxxx, select * from xxxx etc.only newer versions of sql re-desings for frameworks to work with more compatible for .net framework programs and more file read/write performance for db dumps

i had a little job to remodel DreamWorld's server systems.
the first thing i did was downgrading DreamWorld Rage's database server from MS SQL Server 2008 R2 to MS SQL Server 2000.

As a result, the server's performance increased drastically, and the server lost its known inventory lags.

screen of the server with 600 people online on sql-server 2008 R2:

screen of the server with 950 people online on sql-server 2000:

now, before one of you wanna-be-pros comes here to flame or to talk some random bullshit about your oh so great sql server 2005 or 2008, please do me the favor, and give evidences / reasons why your newest database server is the best.

as always: this thread is for learning purposes and for those who thought me wrong with my "sql 2000 madness".
by the way: the database size is more then 4gb so stop bullshitting that sql server 2000 only handles 2gb of ram or only 2gb database files....

PAINT EDIT NOOB
Naah joking.^^

But that isn't a proove. Where is the proofe that there are 900 users online at the 2tn pic? There also can be only 2 online xD
