That would work. But i not 100% you would get crashes.

There is an othe way (work also not 100% and i would get chrashes)

Run all .Exe files on a windows root.
all other files on the linus root
than make a patch and connect both server.

That's the point of installing an hypervisor, it will virtualise windows => files and mssql can run

I wouldn't advise running virtualbox in a live enviroment though, there are better alternatives for kernel virtualisation (kvm instead of virtualbox or xen)

which other files do you want to run except for the executables and mssql...

Virtualising windows with a decent hypervisor is just the same as running it natively so I don't see any reason why it would give you errors or crash
