kevin said all what you can say about this but I wanne give u some examples where silkroad is uses this 3 routing schemes.
Unicast:
Unicast is used in Silkroad for all "private" packets for example: Handshake, Login, Character creation, and and and...
Broadcast:
Its not really correct but you can use broadcast for the Notice or Unique Spawn/Kill. You better use multicast because you should not send this packets to players who are on the gameserver but at the character creation.
Multicast:
As I said before and yea for movement packets. You only send the movement packet to that guys who see the moving player. If you send it to others too and there clients dont know the unique ID because the player was not spawned before the client will crash.
