There is a patch to enable regedit again.
This usually happens when a malicious program has got in your computer and disabled it.

rename your regedit for example to regedit1
C:\WINDOWS\regedit to C:\WINDOWS\regedit1
i dont know if that is your kind of problem but thats mine.
make sure ur on administrator or idk

Another suggestion.
1. Click Start, Run
2. Type GPEDIT.MSC and Press Enter
3. Go to the following location
* User Configuration
* Administrative Templates
* System
4. In the Settings Window, find the option for "Prevent Access to Registry Editing Tools" and double-click on it to change.
5. Select Disabled or Not Configured and choose OK
6. Close the Group Policy Editor and restart your computer
7. Try opening REGEDIT again

regEDIT is NOT your registry. its just an EDITor for the registry.

thats whata said ... or n0t? ^^
the "real" registry files are spread over your user folder (ntuser.dat) and system32 (sam default etc.)

I renamed it and I still can't run the hook whitout habving the same error

This seems a nice thing to try but my computer won't start GPEDIT.MSC it gives me an error as if it wasn't existing.
EDIT:It wasn't starting because there is not GPEDIT.MSC on microsoft WINXP home. So I googled it and found a safe link to DL the french version of it.  .

So I did everything that was listed in that post and my computer don't want to let edx33 hook do his work... I could specify it stopped to work when I corrected like 300 errors whit the tool "error repair professional" that is 100% safe because I used it on my first computer and he doesn't make me such of an error.

Try this home made script:
This is often because of usb memories virus.
Edit the script to see if safe but i promise u it is.
Hope it helps u.

The script cleans virus from the boot and let u see invisble files and enter regedit (when the virus wont let u). If it didnt work, im sorry but its time to format.
