Need Help with DDS Files

hey everyone so i have dds files that i want to open and edit and save in photoshop, but its on a mac. i alredy tried nvidea, gimp, and SquishDDS. none of them help to edit and open dds files in photoshop. Can anyone help me or send me a link to a converter or plugin to open/edit dds files on a mac?

From a quick Google search, it seems like everyone else on the Internet has the same problem with Macs and DDS files in PS. xD

It seems like no one has come to a real conclusion other than workarounds (like converting, editing, and converting back). I think your likely solution would be to create a Windows environment on your Mac, be it through Wine or a virtual machine or even dual-booting operating systems. Or you can learn to like Gimp.

I'm sorry I don't have more to offer (as a Windows user), and it sucks that Macs are so prohibitive in this case. Hopefully something will appear to you. Good luck on your quest!

yea seems like it. ive tried wine, doesnt help. tried dual, nothing changed and doesnt work. im fine with converting files. im a graphic designer so im always converting files for advertising or websiting. ill try gimp and see if it works. thanks

ok, so i do have gimp downloaded. but i wud need winrar to open it. if i need wine to open, then im done. ive tried to download OS with wine and it wudnt load. and as i recently found out, my graphics dont support it. i got like intel graphics or whatever that are sucky graphics for gaming.

Weeell, someone collected the links to all the download versions of GIMP for Mac here:
And then supposedly the GIMP DDS plugin (source code, maybe?) will work with Mac OS. That DL page is here:

Not endorsing these pages or anything, just putting forth some options. If I were you at this point though, I'd probably kick my Mac to the curb and get a cheap Windows laptop. xD

rofl im saving up for that. my pc is like 10 years old. but i need my mac for school stuff haha >< soo many difficult options xD
