Very nice explanation there Sominus, exactly what i was unsure of

I see now that as long as each defined section meets the size requirements already set into the file, then it doesn't matter how many more you add in between, the game will just read along it until the format changes to another "byte area".

Thanks for all the help here, i really have a long ways to go on learning all this :P

Regarding your post from the last page, castor, I haven't really checked how much the Y axis coordinate is taken into account, but again, my favorite example :
- Sky City, 2nd floor. You go up high on the stairs and cast an AOE and it'll damage the mobs that are a long way under you. This is just one example where the Y coordinate isn't considered, and I'm sure there's more. That's either laziness or a lame attempt to save processing power on the server side by the original developers.

We could, of course, add server sided checks for all of the actions on the Y axis, but I don't think it's worth it.

Well yes, I remember adding NPC Guards at the bottom of the Sea, and they will hit any player 'sweeming' above (was funny tho).
My question was more about 'is the trigger area a 2D plane shape or a 3D cube shape'. But it was just for curiosity.

Just tested. In the client it DOES check for the Y coordinate as well when it comes to portals. My theory according to which they tried to save some resources on the server might be right then.

Can't find a reference about exporting the terrain texturing from the generator.

I was thinking on some kind of 512x512 bitmap (representing the terrain), with a grid over it.
The user select a texture from a list, and paint over the grid.
Then the tool asign to the painted cells, the Index value of that texture.
Later the tool export that to the known 512 bytes array, and we insert that code to the texture block in the WLD.
Is it possible something like that?

anyone know how to view SHaiya maps in 3D when land and Sky not only buildings? i need it for video purposes.! i want to video without a character
