New to server side of things

Thats ok, Ive got the information I needed from people who understood the situation,,, so, its been taken care of, and I do not need anymore,,, at least from here,,, I have a whole list of people who are willing to help in the utmost respect, and dedication... even though I dont need that much... this is how you also learn who are going to be willing to help you, and who is really not,,, and as far as Im concerned,, Im glad this post happened,,, It showed me who I can depend on, and who I cant,,, this is how you learn who you can trust,,, doesnt matter where the post was,,, it mattered on who was willing to work it out,,, and, thanks to you, I found that out really quick like,,,, so, I thank you for your help in showing me who is really willing to help me on this site, and who isnt... I thank everyone whom has just gained my respect, and willing to help without the mistake of posting in the wrong area... the willingness to offer me help, and explain things,, and for those who didnt,, and no dis-respect to those who helped me, i hope you can learn from the people you argued with,,, its not all about the rules,,, its about the help you can offer,, and the rules can be worked on,,, thats what makes a community, courtesy, kindness, and respect for all people, no matter how long you been here... no matter what your knowlege is,, if your going to be here,,, then do it,, if your going to just be a rules kind of guy,, then those new people arent going to be able to get help, IN WHICH, will learn the rules with HELP... yes, I think I may have posted here before,,, but, wasnt as enthusiastic about it as I am now,, and had forgotten all about it,, what, one post, two? no answer, no help,, so, I figured screw it,,, I dont know the rules, I dont know how forums work,, I dont care when Im disrespected and not helped, unless helped in a manner of being more specific and polite about it,,, I found it dis-respectful, un-courteous, and extremely un-helpful, that you caused a situation, that could have been avoided... I know more about website building, and chat programs,, I have no knowledge on how forums work,,, but, all in all, its just a script like any other,, I could build this site with no problems,,, I could take all your kind, respectful people that helps when its needed, and build one hellish forums, that everyone would get the help they need with quick and easy options for all administrators to do what they needed,,, even ban pricks that dont help and are rude... people need help, not rules,, people can be taught, with the right respect to each other.. Ive found those people,,, and if I was a real ass,, I would be able to work with these people to build a real website, with awesome features to aid them in their help to whatever they needed... just sucks that all my knowledge is outdated... so without being angry, with some having intentions to put people down, even though they have a higher position than you at this site,,, which is even more disrespectful.... I apologize to you Snuggle, and thank you for your kindness,,,, you need to learn customer relations, you have no patience or common sense when it comes to helping others,, and this goes for all of you that feel that the main importance was the fact on where this was actually posted... and if you work in a retail position, or any position that deals with customers,, your a disgrace... Id rather buy my products elsewhere,,, Ive even help with AVG's tune up software for customer service and calmed people down because stupid AVG put out 2013 tuneup without thou-rally beta testing it, with that people started posting the information AVG needed to fix their problem,, even though they were in the wrong anyhow,,,,,, and maybe, you all should understand that its not your place to tell me where I posted was wrong or not, thats the administrator and moderators to decide to tell me or not... Its called chain of command, you learn it being trained by military personel,,, there is an order to things, and without it, causes chaos,,, and anyone who says they love this site, to help others,,, whatever,,, the people that was more concerned about my issue, rather than where I posted, is who makes this site work,,, and its them who keep this site alive,,, and its people like you that is going to cause people not to want to come back,,, which means, less for the people who started this site, owners, may or may not make a profit,,, but, will lose it all because of people like you,, and sorry that others had to endure this in the past, and your right, I can learn it all on my own,, plan to with most of it, but, this wasnt a question on whether I can do it or not,, its was wanting other peoples opinions who have worked more with this site than i have... I know I can do the tutorials, been over them,, thats why I asked, "WHICH DOES EVERYONE ELSE THINK WOULD BE THE BEST TUTORIAL..",,, the person who answered all my questions,,,, know who they are,,, and the ones that didnt,,, also know,, and they also know who helps the this site, and who dont have a clue.... so, am I being an ass right now, yes,,, because I see who deserves credit... and some people need to see how they reflect on a site... because they can see how they are to everyone else,,, its not a matter of who is right or wrong now,,, just work on your issues and become that better person to help people rather than being rude... even if you dont understand you were rude... i dont have to come to this site,, I dont have to start a shaiya server, but, I wanted to learn, and willing to dedicate myself to do so... I have a grandchild on the way, Im old, I figured it would be something to give me the chance to see if i could really do something... I used to develop websites, and scripts for websites,,, i used to play around with visual basic, and other things,, delt with life,,, and tell you what, if this was an actual paying job,,, the rudeness I endured wouldnt be tollerated, and you would be fired... but, this isnt how this works,, it doesnt mean your a bad person, but, looks to me that there have become some real pricks here, and only a few people here and there can see it... especially people coming to this site to get help... and if all of you look onto this thread, you will see that, even for the things you said yourself... this should be a wake-up call, not some nubby causing problems... not to get mad at the others who was also trying to get others to see what the important thing is here at this site... this site was evidently developed to help people,,, first thing,,, help people... not that someone isnt following the rules or not, or where to post or not,,, help people... and it failed, miserably, luckily some pushed to chat in other ways, to help,, which saved it, but, only you, yourselves can fix the problems within yourselves, or how you type things, and not put someone down because you dont agree with one another.... I am ashamed at how some of my colleagues have behaved in this thread. You should all go back , all of you , and revisit your posts , and ask yourself :
1. Is what I posted good for the community or am I embarrassing myself and demeaning my abilities and past accomplishments ?

It is not very helpful nor mature to demean others , call them names or insult them. I swear , If I was a mod, I would have deleted 75% of the posts in this thread , due to insults and bashing.

Please think of a new person's feelings when replying to their need for help. Some are not aware enough to know how to search for it , or maybe they are lazy, but we are not here to demean people. And it's a good way to keep the community from being fun and growing.

Forums are for the exchange of ideas along the lines of a specific topic , and to assist those who come to us.

This should *not* have been the first thing you saw, coming to this section of the forums- we've fallen so, so far over the past year or two. What you unfortunately stumbled into is a viper's nest of jealousy, resentment, personal vendettas, pride, and elitism. It's not all like that here, but honestly, if you want to be a part of this forum (which does still have a HUGE wealth of knowledge and experience, and some good people left), you have to have a thick skin, and learn to sort out the trolls and attention-seekers from those willing to help. It's just a part of how this particular section's community is, here, as much as we may wish it were not so. An old, tired, dying game and an old, tired, dying community breed bitterness and competition, and high tempers and insults- even for newbies who aren't involved in the least.

Again, I apologize for the welcome you received here. Please believe me when I say it's nothing to do with you, and it's absolutely not what you deserved. I hope you've seen enough good amongst the bad that you choose to stick around. Welcome to our twisted little corner of the Internet. Once you know your way around the minefield, it's not so bad.

Yeah, back in boot camp, I out performed all your asses with ease. I'd do it again too.
That's why I broke my leg I pushed myself too far, past everyone. So in turn running on a hard wood floor 3 to 4 times a week trying to get under a 10 minute mile and a half run each time really kills your legs.

I have been away from these forums for about 6 may be 7 months , and this is how we greet new members. nub , I am ashamed of you the most ,bro I remember a time when you did the same things ask in the wrong sections. and I can go on about things in your past in these forums . but I am not going to do that would be adding fuel to the fire. all that should have been said was wrong section, and heres the link to where you need to post. plain and simple.

this forum section needs to turn around and remember when you all started out where did you go? did you ask for help? did they go off on you like this? I remember a time when NEW BLOOD was welcome. I have stayed to my self reading others work figuring out how they did it by trial and error. I have used some of the work of others and I know other servers out there took some of my work and used in their servers. that's part of sharing. but realy I don't know what has gone on here while I was away from shaiya altogether and I don't care about any of that. and I know I have grammer issues in this post.

The main thing I want to say with all this is remember when you started out . and would you be where you are with out the ones that came before you. We need to return to the way this forum was before the DDoS attacks back when every one worked together , every one would help each other. and I may be late but if you have any questions or need some help send me a pm.

As a failure in my attempts to make a working server. I will say that when I search topics, I understand most of what I am looking for.

Using the search is a piece of cake when you know how to word your search. For those people that love the game, have their own perfect picture of the perfect server, but don't know the lingo of the development. You can search what you think is right, and end up with 100 answers to the wrong questions. And you are still lost.

I myself quit bitching about servers the way I used to, simply cause I failed in making my own.

However when someone new to development actually likes the game enough to jump in and TRY and to swallow their pride enough to ask for help. Senior members know exactly what to search for, senior members know what they need when they see it. Why kill the experience for someone new just because it comes so easy for you?

It's been a while since I have used the search. Because there were so many obsolete posts that would easily confuse new members of the community.

I think if someone wants to be a mod trolling the forums for newbs that just discovered the forums. The wanna be mods would be of better use and thanked a lot more if they put their effort into trolling the forums for posts that plug up the search system and make the recommendation to delete those posts that are utterly useless to pretty much everyone. Then searches would be worth using again.

If I had any say in who would be a decent mod in the forum. I would never promote any member who takes his time in such a worthless waste of time to bitch out a new member opposed to simply helping a new member.

I didn't think it was such a forum crime with the numerous posts involving starting a server. I think it is a wise person that will ask the opinion of the community on the best post to follow. Really one method of development is easier, one would be a little more stable but takes more work.

a)newb asks a question-right section or not "it happens"
b)mod answers and directs to right sections. Or just shits on people that didn't know better.
c)now is a post in the wrong section? NOW is part of the search function. Now another new member "could be the next great developer" sees the crap posted here and goes somewhere else, or worse yet, decides to quit before they even start. Would anyone want to ask for any help after seeing the chit storm that happened simply because someone asked a question.
