its just basic knowledge of Photoshop copying a pic off the net and making sure your masking it exactly right

as far as the alpha the server i was on the gear already had the glossy problem and i haven't bothered to try and learn how to kill the alpha effect. and the editor that did the base gear also didnt re-adjust for the color of the skin so that's why it has that grey tone.

how u open dds files with gimp?

I Did these a long time ago don't have the files anymore since i stopped developing for shaiya.

I was having an issue with the textures messing up on me after i edited the item glow in shstudio.
that is the reason for the before and after shot.

Simply download a .DDS-Plugin for gimp ;')

These "cubes" are standing for a transparent fields. You have an issue to load the .dds files with gimp. Try to use this DDS Converter ;')

Convert dds file -> jpg,bmp,etc. -> edit it -> convert it back

Covea, Nice! I like your choice in colors. Thanks for sharing the info about gimp. I didnt think to use gimp for recoloring skins. I use gimp for other things like flyers and banners. Ill try it out.

I had copied a goddess weapon that had the white glow. and i was trying to change the glow color to a custom one i got it fixed thanks to castor's help.
