Yes you can without the source. First you need to unpack the SFrame (MPRESS for 9.6+) then by doing some reverse engineering and few modifications you'll be able to make it more difficult to unpack the game data. Then repack the SFrame as additional protection layer.

You can actually but you need someone very experienced such as AgeOfRappelz I'm pretty sure he's packing resources directly into the Sframe
