hmm
1. there is no viruses for linux
2.it's more stabile
3. it's good for making servers
that's why i want linux
..... and i need counter strike,conquer.......to work
|
That's actually not true. There are viruses for linux, just not as many. But there are plenty of compromising tools used by hackers to gain access just like windows. I run XP x64 and Vista and I like them both. Vista may be slow, but it's fun to use. But when it comes to viruses and spyware, it all depends on how download-smart you are. Are you the kind of person to download anything you see and run it? If so, you will get a virus a week and have 20 spyware programs running at all times. I manage everything I download and only run things I know to be clean. Last time I had spyware/viruses? Over 5 years ago. I don't even run firewalls, spyware detection, or anti virus. Waste of time, resources, and money when you can do it yourself.
As far as stability, that's arguable. Windows next to never crashes for me. I've had linux crash on me before so I can't say one is more stable than the other. Vista's crashed less than my XP machine though.
CS works on linux too. Use WINE or Feisty. I know someone who plays CS on Ubuntu.
In the end, they're all decent. It just depends on what you do with your computer time. Everything I do will generally only run on windows so I have to run windows on both of my comps. I'd love to prop up fedora core on my other comp though. ^^ but it needs windows so I stuck Vista on it to play with it. Runs pretty nicely but yea, you need a good setup for it. [/b][/quote]
1 thing i'm sorry about vista,
i can't play older games :hm: :hm:

I love Vista,
when I first installed it i had nearly no problems.
I had to install Nero, installed it - didnt work - humz -> update -> works.
The windows protection was goin on my nerves, so i deactivated it.
Then i needed Daemon-tools, Miranda, uTorrent, mIRC, Fraps, Winamp -> installed -> works. Everything good and fine I thought, so i installed more stuff, my Vista partition went full :S well, had to make it bigger, so i installed Partition-Magic, didn't work, shit!, i used the boot-cd of it, and it worked , hmm, since i program in c# and c++ i installed MSVS05 -> works.
After a time a friend called and had computer problems, he said lets meet on TeamSpeak, so I installed it and it worked, also i program Assembler for my microcontroller, so I installed Keil and Flip and still had no problems.
Since I also like to play games i installed a lot of em^^ and i had 1 game that didn't work for me, it was some mmorpg - from which i don't remember the name anymore, in the beta, I was pretty unhappy but it didn't bother me later .
Shiiiiit I dont have a Anti-Virus program installed <-- thats what I recognized 2 months later, so I installed Free-Av and let it search for viruses, none found ( just the standard thingys wpe and stuff ). Well since I like to watch Anime and have a lot of Anime pics ( ~10000 ) in one folder Vista is also a good choice, when i opened the pic folder it didnt take 100% CPU like on XP, they was nearly instantly there with their standard picture and also soon loaded fast their thumbs, also in the "new-anime" folder the thumbs loaded pretty fast, the thumbs.db files which XP created were still there, but they didnt change, so i deleted it, the thumbs of the files are still there, but the file not, yay - I thought, pressed F5 and they were still there, so I deleted every thumbs.db file ( they annoyed me in XP ), since I don't need em anymore .
What I also like about Vista is, that the design is DirectX-Accelerated, i can move Windows much more smooth than on XP - even with Glass.
Ohh I remember now Fury, at first I couldn't play it on Vista, there ( Hardware-Test failed, lol ) so i ran it with XP compatibility -> works fine.
I still have an Image from my old XP installation, but I think I'll never need it.
In my opinion all of you who scream "VISTA SUXX" and stuff have never really tested it out ( i mean REALLY ) may die, now :P
A friend of mine had installed Vista for a test, he had a problem with his graphics card driver and just shouted: Vista SUX! Nothing works! - well... would he have used google for once, he would be able to download the driver and done.
Info: those with relatively old hardware should install Vista they should at LEAST meet the MINIMUM required hardware to use Vista, if you do install Vista anyway then its YOUR problem and YOUR fault for having problems with Vista, so don't blame it on Vista... and thos who never had Vista installed and didn't even test it a little should also just keep their mouth shut, crappy people who just follow other peoples words, hate em!
Crashes on Vista: wtf is a crash?
RAM and Vista: yes, its true that Vista uses up a lot of RAM, but if you play games which need much RAM the Programs which run in the background and dont need their ram at the moment or no more ram will have their reserves give to the Program which needs more RAM, and have their RAM put in the virtual memory, it haves a little side-effect, after you shut down the game Windows appears a bit slow since it have to get all the RAM back from the virtual memory, but after a while - 1 minute or something around that, everything will work fine again. Well, there are much more positive stuff about Vista, but I don't want to tell further ~,~ since I have better stuff to do...
greetings

i was to a friend which he has vista on his comp....it was 10 mins before i arrived at his home he installed it....he had nothing on it only th drivers installed, so he has:
amd athlon 3000+ (2.0ghz)
512 ram ddr
ge force fx 5200 ( i hate it)
so.... i wanted to log in elitepvpers and i double clicked on internet explorer 7
it took me like 5-10 secs to enter into explorer
that was wierd
on xp it's like instantly (1-2 sec delay)

S4 League Versus Turnier
01/24/2010 - S4 League - 6 Replies
1 Win -> 3Punkte
Gleichstand -> 2 Punkte
1 Loose -> 1Punkt
Am Schluss wird alles nach den Punkten...
