No, the project is designed for Qt5, even in the .pro file you can read "greaterThan(QT_MAJOR_VERSION, 4)" (Qt version > 4). Try to delete the .pro.user file and then run the .pro. The .pro.user shouldn't be in the repo.

This is because you are using G++ compiler. The __asm macro (with Intel syntax) that is used in this project is available only with MSVC compiler. Nevertheless now you have proofs that it can build fine, you are just doing something wrong while creating the new project.
