Hey there, I recently started to deal with OpenNos as a hobby.
I have a lot of basic questions about certain things
(I was able to get the whole system running, so these questions are about adding Timespaces, Raids, etc - Not new stuff, just stuff from the official game)
I was wondering if anyone has some spare time and knowledge to actually answer these questions. I have a lot of interest in this topic and would really appreciate if someone tried to help me.
I know what a packetlogger does but I haven't fully understood how the parser processes the information contained in the packet.txt
The parser just transform the data into what the emulator need in the database. It’s just reading the file to find the important information (position of monsters, do they move), portals, shops... it also parse the .dat file into something that can be stored in database. Another emulator could totally read the .dat directly.
Just see this as some process that read all the line to search what is important and transform it into something the emulator understand.
The whole parser is just a way to seed your database. Before that people where manually adding items 1 by 1 in a item.config or something like that which was taking so long...
Thanks a lot!
That helped to understand some things better.
So the packet.txt is actually for the packets/handlers and the rest is for the database?
Can I parse different packet.txt's after another in order to add all handlers?

You didn't understand how work the parser.
The parser, as its name says, parses the packet.txt to fill your database with data, nothing more.
I know you probably think I'm dumb or this isn't for me but im really trying to understand.
So the aim of a emulator is to kinda replicate the packages the official server would send to the client?
So in order to do things with the db-data you gotta implement the cases?

I assume that you're german, if you're feel free to hit me up on Discord (Excuse me?#3130) I think it's a lot easier for you to understand if I explain you the basics in your nativ language.
It’s not magic...the packet.txt content is optional. It’s just here to help you fill the database with content but if you want your monster somewhere else than official you don’t have to use it.
The DB data is not a case... their is nothing to do on it it’s just here to hold data like price it doesn’t create shop system for you...
The handlers are (in opennos) in method with packet as property it explain what to do with what packet...
Your usage of package instead of packet makes me strongly believe that you are just a multi account...
I understood a lot in the last few hours so basically forget what I asked there.
Dont really know what u mean with multi account, im just new to this stuff I:
